How much can I mod my Keychron?

This Keychron K6 started my journey into the mechanical keyboard hobby, I did a few mods for the stabs and the case then but after a while I realized there's definitely more to be done!
The board ended up with a way better typing feel than before, however the stabs could've been done way better, would probably find some time to work on those stabs!
And a huge thank you to everyone that has been supporting the channel, the likes and comments, I really appreciate it all.

This board has north facing led so you need to change those switches to something has a longer stem pole(ex Akko cs switches), or else it will be interfere with cherry profile keycaps

So I got this rk61 about a year ago and had 61 red switches (I lubed them) and now I’m looking forward to getting the gas67 but then found out it has north facing leds. Should I still buy cherry profile keycaps? I’m also planning to buy north facing washers, where could i get those? Oh and I’m planning to use the reds in the gas67 build and just buy some Gateron yellows for the other 6 switches

A really nice re-mod from the previous mod, sounded less hollow and the stabilizer are so much better too bad that the keychron is south facing switches so the cherry profile will have interference, you can try to do holee mod to improve the stabs but overall a great upgrade and look nice.

Try giving car sound deadening foam,gives the case a super dense feel. Although I need much better and thicker caps to achieve that satisfying thoc.

Am i the only one who likes the stock sound more? great video mate I am going to use pro yellow switches for my k12 and probably wont bother with lubes. It looks lots of work tho

Interesting that you chose to use loose foam fromthe bottom. I have extra chopped up foam from an endy pillow and might just fill the bottom with that. My only concern is covering the battery for heat.

I'm an sound engineer and I have a keychron k4 v2. honestly it has some good amount of reverb with that aluminum frames sound adorable. this is the one you might not need to mod too much. I would love to use it as stock.

If u have an extra mousepad or old mousepad that u no longer use lying around, cut it in shape and put in in the case. It gives the best result i've done it

nice mod! I just got the k6 and the biggest trouble for me was installing the power toggle on pcb to the toggle slider button on the left? Like, you have to make sure that its connected to the pcb slider, and I cant really see it bc its covered by the plate when I install them back (since the pcb and the plate are held together by screws). So I got to be patient lol

Great video lah! I have a K6 myself too. Only did the foam mod and lubed my keys and stabs. Throwing the small bits of foam in is a brilliant idea! Btw, correct me if im wrong, wouldn't the cherry profile keycaps cause interference with the north facing LEDs on the keyboard? The keys on the third row will bottom out onto itself because of the way the north-facing LEDs sit. Im new to this too so I might be mistaken.

Does that affect replacing keycaps? I don't have hot-swappable switches but the original keycaps aren't great.

@@nimrodery you can replace the keycaps with something that is NOT cherry profile. OEM, XDA, SA, DSA should all work just fine. Good luck!

Have the K4v1 but don't think I can mode anything aside from adding in foam. Kinda wish I have a desoldering gun. Btw, where did you get that dampening foam? The ones I saw from Aliexpress seems to be for car use.

I made a silicone pad instead of putting foam. It works better in my opinion

@@jancicruz7 no, remove the battery, put tape on the different holes in the case, level the case to eliminate the taping angle and pour silicone and you have a nice pad when the silicon is cured.

How do you find the right size keycaps for your keyboard? (Because I'm trying to mod my first keyboard)

If you have north facing switches, be careful of cherry profile keycaps (unless they have longer stems, or apparently the new gateron molds are ok also). Otherwise, your keyboard should come with a layout page that says what size the modifiers are, so make sure whatever keycaps you get match it. That should be it :)
