How much cash to carry abroad from India

The maximum cash limit that Indian travellers can carry abroad is strictly ₹25,000! Did you know that?
Additionally, if you want to carry more cash while travelling, a simple solution is converting the Indian currency to the currency of the country you’re visiting. There’s no cash limit to other currencies like dollars, Euros, pounds etc. when leaving india. Note that, limits may apply, during immigration of the country you’re visiting, so check before travelling and carry cash accordingly.
Also, please note, that you must avoid exchanging currency at the airports because the exchange rates are usually not favourable.
For foreign nations, bringing Indian currency to India is not allowed.

There is limit also on carrying foreign currency during Departure Upto 2000 USD no receipt required Max limit 5000 USD or equivalent with receipt For Indian Currency limit is as you mentioned Rs 25,000/- per person.

Not even half, actually very limited info, For India outbound and inbound, its equivalent to USD 5000 in cash, or USD 10k in total, above this limit, need to declare. But not only this even, need to check the rules for destination country as well 🙂. Like in Australia, need to declare if you carry more than AUD 10k in cash in any currency form, for both inbound and outbound. And this info is not limited to but more🙂

Hey tanya as per fcra act you cannot keep more than 2000 dollars of foreign currency. So its suggested to exchange the unspent foreign currency that you are thinking to bring back.

If travelling, always carry US dollars cash. Dont exchange at airport. This will save tons of money, meaning cheaper hotels, activities and products too.

Cash can be stolen, lost hence best is to carry Travellers Cheque in USD which is safe and can be converted in cash without any commission ! One should record this transaction of buying Travellers Cheque on their passport too ! Now a days, forex debit cards of Visa issues by Indian banks are easy to carry and their is almost none or negligible loss in forex exchange swap !

While converting the tax is so much, I converted 50k Rupees to AED and in exchange I only received 1920aed i.e like 43.8k rupees . 6.2k I had to pay tax for exchanging my own money, that's like my whole month ration expenses 😅
