How much chlorine does your pool need? Usually, it only takes a few tablets or a cup of granules to keep your water sanitized. But it all depends on the size of your pool and what type of chlorine you buy. So here’s a quick guide on figuring out exactly how much chlorine you need to add to your pool.

You can get chlorine granules without CYA then add stabilizer separately when and if you need it. Not sure why this wasn’t mentioned

They have calcium(calcium hypochlorite) and will then spike your calcium. There is no clean chorine.

Thanks for mentioning this! Granules made of cal-hypo don't have CYA, but can cause calcium buildup. The most common form of granules have CYA.

@@3vie5679 if you want straight chlorine without the calcium then you gotta use liquid chlorine from a pool store. Strongest chlorine amount you can find the better.

I've had good luck with 3" tabs in the past (30,000 gallons, auto chlorine feeder), but my cya levels were of the charts last year, even with replace about 10,000 gallons. Advice?

Keep on replacing water until CYA is within range and use liquid chlorine in the meantime. Every type of sanitizer has byproduct, liquid chlorine generally speaking is the best and the byproduct is higher PH and alkalinity, but can be easily adjusted.

@@nightracerx yeah, I turned the chlorination almost all the way off, drained about a foot below the skimmer 3 TIMES before I could get in range. Thanks.

Like others said, switch to liquid chlorine. And there are some granules that are made with cal-hypo don't have CYA.

Hi there, how much granules of chlorine in my 15' round and 3' high pool need? And how often would I put chlorine? It's the pools that you put air in top and fill with water. I'm also wondering, would I need to put shock in? I just added fresh water to it a few weeks ago. Thanks 😊 Thanks

Sounds like you have about 4,000 gallons. So use that to calculate how much to add, once a week. You also need to balance pH and alkalinity, so don't forget that!

If you don't use stabilizer, you could probably add 2 cups a day to it, if it tests that it needs it.

I’m sure you have a valid message to convey but it’s difficult to concentrate on your words with all the sound effects (whooshes, music, etc.) accompanying the visual arrows on screen. Perhaps mixing the music and sound effects much lower than your voice would be more effective

Thanks for the constructive feedback! I'm always trying to make these videos better and got rid of a lot of sound effects and lowered the music over the years. But I appreciate the feedback that even what's there is still distracting. Noted!
