I think those expensive sump system are overrated a well planned diy system will work just fine minus the possible leak and look but u can overbuilt it and cover it up because it is a filter why want it to be good looking.

Seriously nice setup & I vote South American specimen tank.👍 I had a purple blood parrot (supposed Red Devil hybrid). I switched setups, put him in first & he claimed the whole tank in 30sec. Same behavior as yours

Take out the Devil and put in some red shoulder Severums or Geophagus winemilleri's..Green Parrots-Hoplarchis..Uaru's. Other then the Parrots,none will bother the other fish..the Geophagus help to keep the gravel clean and stirred up. There's a few exotic Geophagus out there,great showy fish.

Hey, firemouths are not that aggressive unless you have a mated pair preparing to breed; so you can have large schooling fish like barbs, giant danio, etc. If you want to try adding other cichlids...acara or smaller geophagus

One last comment-lol- from me. When the Devi (and Oscar)l is gone..you could put large Anubias barteri on the wood..smaller Anubias at the base..take advantage that you could combine big fish- like I listed and real plants in one tank. Bolbitis would work. Just my 2cents!..great tank,love them Arowana's.

Hi, I know this isn’t your area but how much time do you think in a week I would spend on 10, 6.6 gallon tanks with shrimp inside? I want to breed shrimp and have around 10-12 tanks with neocaridina and caridina.

I have no success with shrimp, so I'm definitely not the best person to ask. But, from what I've read I you use RO water you can cut the maintenance time down drastically...but even if you use tap water, tanks that small should take half an hour a week...if that

I love your 350g tank and that's my dream tank! But a I have a question, I just got a 125g tank never been cycled and I keep getting nitrate or nitrite spikes in the first couple of months. The tank got cycled by quickstart tetra, and the nitrate and nitrate were under control. My water started getting clowdy, so I bought a 36watt turbo twist uv lite for my tropical tank, and it worked but after a week I couldn't control my nitrates and nitrites no matter how many water changes I did. I blame the uv sterilizer because Everytime I turn it on my nitrates spike up. Do you think the sterilizer is a waste of money?

Thank you, UV sterilizers are mainly purposed to kill single celled organisms like algae and some parasites...I only use one in my pond because the natural sunlight is like steroids for algae...I don't think a UV is necessary on aquariums though. Do you have any fish in the tank and if so how many? The nitrites and nitrates are probably rising because you don't have enough beneficial bacteria to consume it. The quickstart added beneficaial bacteria, but when you add fish you must do it slowly to balance with the amount of bacteria in your tank. Over time the amount of bacteria will grow and so will the amount of fish that you will be able to keep in the tank

Great price for brand new. Plexi lasts forever. My 240 is near 35 years now. Best thing I ever bought. Its sort of a beater after so many moves,fish,dry outs.. scratches. But,if it ever really bothers me,it could be reconditioned,buffed out. Because it is so old? I ran Superglue along the seams..just to help. I cant say it makes a difference for sure. Plus,you dont see a thing of the glue.

I am going to order the same tank when I get my tax return back. They now want $140 extra for the black background. What kink of holes does it come with for filtration? Did you have to drill a hole at the top for the sump? I currently have 4 FX6s I can use. Debating on using them to save money vs a Sump. Is there a notch or something in the top if I go with the canister filters?

They give you the option of drilled or not drilled for free (with me it was free), I actually didn't get mines drilled, I have a HOB skimmer that brings water to my sump....however if I could go back I would have gotten it drilled...it would have made for a more effective sump

Well that'll have to be close 800Ibs empty, 4000Ibs full with water and decor. With my stand I used six 4x4 legs, perhaps 8 legs 2ft apart would work for yours

So far it is worth the money. Still haven't found a cheaper tank, acrylic was super easy to carry, no leaks. The only thing is that the acrylic scratches very easily and its not as easy to clean as glass. But no regrets

it's kind of crazy how most of their smaller tanks cost more than the one you bought despite it having more material. It must have something to do with how the acrylic sheets come or something and having the larger pieces saves them in scrap. Just a guess, not sure.. But now i'm looking at 300-350gallons when i just wanted the 248gal (actually measures 280gals) lol weird. epic tank, def worth the money, hope to get mine this year. Prob wont cuz #life.

Acrylic sheets 2ft and under are 1/2" thick. So a 4'x3'x3' which is 240g would cost more as the acylic is thicker. It says 3/4" on their site.

Very nice fish room and fish. Do you do all the maintenance yourself or you have some help? Hours/week? I see that you have dogs in other videos. I only have 3 tanks, a pond and 1 dog and full time job but I enjoy it. The pond is easiest to maintain. Yes it is worth it if you are happy with it. $3000 in CAD is really good. USA I find aquariums and related products to be much cheaper than Canada

I split maintenance between 2 days....Sunday's I spend 3 hours doing water changes on all of my freshwater tanks in the basement; on Tuesdays I change water in my 210 gallon upstairs and my reef tank which only takes about 1 hour...both weekly for now, but I'm trying to figure out ways to extend it to every other week by adding plants to all my tanks and more filter media

@@dwsdarius plants do help. I have a heavily planted 29 gallon and used excess to put in my 75 gallon mbuna setup. That is overstock so I do once/week but used to do every 5 days until the pants settled. The heavily planted I do 25%every other week

Yes since being in this tank his nuchal hump has grown and he has become overall more handsome, but that aggression. If I take him out for a few weeks I think when he returns he will continue with his madness because none of the other fish can beat him to become the new tank boss

I'm further amazed you trained the Cichla to eat pellets. King DIY could not get his to eat anything...so he fed them goldfish and extra tropical fish he had. Sad really. Maybe you could give him some tips?
