FUUUUUUUCK! If i would've known this i would have put money into getting irp, ifta, and everything else on the truck before insuring it. this process has taking me 2months already because of a hold up with switching the title. Im Gonna be dog broke after its all said done with this trucking authority of my. also i went through ooida to set up my bis and everything, knowing what i know now i wouldve done all of that on my own. i mean i didnt know the ends and outs of everything i needed to do at the time all i know is that i had a truck thats paid for and wanted my authority after being a company driver/owner operator for 12 years. i thought i had this down!!!!! i guess all of these learning curves will for sure teach me to be on top of EEEEEVERYTHING. dont overlook anything. the only thing that screwed me really is that i had to fork out 5k$ to get repairs done on the truck, i still didnt think that was bad because i didnt pay for the truck and the repairs were needed!

When I bought my 2nd truck that was for my 2nd trucking business running under my own authority it sat for more than a month while I navigated through all of the getting my own authority and insurance delays. Don't feel to bad I think it happens to many on there first attempt

Awesome video! I’m lost though, for my job I drive truck in California and Illinois. I bought a semi truck in Wisconsin and I’m going to use it in Illinois . My cdl is from California, how would I register the truck in Illinois? It’s 99 so I can’t have it in California…. Any info would be awesome

I believe you just have to have a residence in Illinois.

LLC based in Illinois then you are out of state driving and rack up per diem. I kept Washington licence for years with Illinois LLC to rack up the most tax incentives, if I did again I'd do LLC in Wyoming though.

I have a ram and I just got de irp plates but I don’t know if I have to change the registration of the vehicle to match the apportioned plates.

Is it your business name and then your personal name if so that is fine as long as your the owner. If not you can change your registration name pretty easy at the dmv or clerk office

@@MakeMoneyTrucking im a newbie. Ive been having issues with the dmv and irp. Irp told me some false info about updating the title. I had to wait 6 weeks for the title and they sent it back to me saying its not filled out all the way tske it to my local dmv. In the beginning I was told not to go to local dmv lol im going to dmv monday to handle the title issue, then pay irp 1700 my plates and hopefully hire a driver by the end of the week

Applies to box truck too. However you don’t have to get the plate. You could just get a permit to cross state line at the port of entry which I learned I couple days ago that I needed a permit. They cost like 20 bucks for a 4 day permit. It’s dumb honestly. Especially considering that trucking is the back bone of the country. Every process has some sort of cost to it. I’m really hoping I can survive as a new O/O with my new authority. So far only TQL will work with me. I’m 2 months in. Can’t wait for month 6. It’s been a crazy learning experience. Also, DOT be on that bs
