Experience does not count in salary. Dentist do not care. Hygienist for 40 years retired.
@RG-hf4et3 жыл бұрын
New hygienists are going to make less. More experienced make more. You can only get paid so much doing hygiene. That's the problem with hygiene - the job plateaus very quickly with salary and what you can do. You start high and how high can a hygienist's salary go? Especially if the offices are signed up with ppo plans and a reduced fee is being accepted. And now with all the added covid costs??? I am a hygienist turned dentist solo practioner. I've been on both sides. I became a dentist bc I knew in the long run I was capable of doing more and I might get bored with the routine. Been in the dental field for 44 years. Don't say dentists don't care. The hygiene field you chose has salary limits & procedure limits. It is what it is.

Tooth talk girl, if you're still making this amount after the shortage you need to look at the new job postings! I think that if everyone takes a higher paying job as a dental hygienist they 1) Help increase the pay for everyone in the field who were previously underpaid, and not given benefits. 2) They personally earn the equivalent to their own education level and amount of work that they're doing. 3) They prevent the shortage from getting worse, as the profession gets more appealing.

It totally depends on the area. I worked full time 4 days a week and I loved it. I would temp and often worked 5-6 days a week depending on the week and what I had going on. Now I am married and I was full time for 4 years at a location and now I’m switching out to part time as my husband makes more and it means I get to have more time to get together with friends and do some more things I like to do. It’s really great. I also am part of a temp agency and they offer free CE’s, if you are full time in MN you only have to work 32 hours and with the temp agency you get insurance, and some other perks like paid vacation. There are SOOOO many dental offices hiring for any schedule right now it’s insane. I would recommend dental hygiene because it’s such a great career especially depending on the city you work in.
