Thanks for the video, last year, I lived in the Jomtien area close to Pattaya for 6 months and my monthly budget was $3K and that's with companionship with a regular Thai lady for 3x a week and not buying any lady drinks and barfines. Been eating Thai foods in the market not western food. I was planning to retire but changed my mind in the last minute. In my early 50's now and back to work in CA. Will do this again, next year.

8 Million baht PLUS a pension!! You can live very good here! There are many factors, like location, size, amenities, but you could buy a condo near the water for 1-2 million and cheaper away from touristy towns. Then depending on other factors, if housing is paid for just spend about another 8-10K Baht a month for utilities. You will have more than enough in my opinion. If you really want serious help, we could arrange a video call and plan it out or at least have a look.

I've never been to Panama so I couldn't speak about any comparisons. There's the normal list of why people like here.. affordability, food, weather, and mobility to explore the rest of Asia. You can get by with English in the touristy areas, outside of that you'll need to learn a few important words. Thanks for the comment.

yeah its crazy cheap to rent outside Bangkok..and well even in Bangkok its cheap. i pay about 280$ for a 43sqm 1 bedroom condo with pool and gym and free wifi with 1 year contract ,pretty near a mrt subway station..as im working in a office here in Bangkok=) Rent food transportation clothes and all things in life are low-cost,And thai middleclass has probably more buyingpower and live in more luxury than american middleclass nowadays.. What many expats spend money on is "bars and ladys" and THERE its no limit what u spend..in a month=)

House rent isnt even 20% of that and food well..max 3-400 baht a day He has a wife(that works too) and one baby and doing good building a house in central thailand for them and closest family Very different from western lifestyle where people nowadays seems to spend 70-90% of their salary just for daily living costs..and have massive bank/credit card debts on that

Maybe .. I'd recommend a visit to any area your thinking about. Only then can you know if it's a good fit for you. I find here not too bad .. close to Bangkok if I want or Hua Hin or Pattaya or Kanchanaburi -- all with a couple hours drive.

I love the look of the neighbourhood you are in, how close are you to public transportation like the BTS or MRT. I don't drive so if I move to Bangkok and surrounding areas that is a consideration for me.

As far as I know the BTS and MRT are Metro -BANGKOK area only systems. Although, you can connect with "The State Railway of Thailand (SRT)" which runs all over Thailand and there is a station here in Nakhon Pathom. Without a car you would be dependent on buses, taxis, and train service to move around. There MUST be a similar area like mine with-in the BTS/MRT system but just outside of Central Bangkok. Are you in Thailand now? Where are you living?

This is in Nakhon Pathom, not in Bangkok. About a 30 min. drive west of central Bangkok, at NON-traffic times. There are a million of these places here, it's not so uncommon.

@@Oggiwara1 I have driven from my house to the Nana Plaza area is about 30 mins. Of course, that depends on which day and time of day and it was NOT in heavy traffic. I have a car so I drive everywhere. I haven't driven to the airport so I couldn't say off the top of my head but that's on the opposite side of Bangkok to where I am.

The reason I asking, is that I have never found a furnitured townhouse for rent on the "Bangkok region" that is okay for me for less than 20 000 Bath on the internet. A few run down ones yes, but no somewhat good quality with somewhat good quality furniture etc. I will retire and move to BKK 2027, but I have been searching over a year now just to learn how the rental market works in Thailand.

Yes. A 12 month lease. I personally know someone renting out a decent furnished studio in the Jomtien Beach area (Pattaya) at a really nice property for 10K a month with 1 year lease. These prices can always be found.

@@IDKThailand you pay how much you use, if use lot air-con need pay lot more about 3000-5000 B/month but noemal air-con not need ewer daytime, only little time uses bedroom when come sleep have better sleep but timer need add stop not working all night or come AC flu , normal all day need only FAN use. my own house elektric bill have about 2000-3000B/month i not use air-con lot, only little time in bedroom when go sleep. about hour or 2.
