Brotha these numbers dont add up. How 1 week you drive 2500 miles and take home 1600 but then next week you drove 3000 miles and take home 1500 ? How you drive 500 more miles and make less pay ?
@bigsmoothtruckin Жыл бұрын
I probably went too fast, I'm still new so next video I show will be slowed down and I'll talk slower (I'm from Louisiana so I slur my words sometimes) but look at the pay before tax, it all adds up. They taxed me hard for the 3000 miles, and with the 2500 mile week I had a home check of an extra $600 that was added to it. So without that home time pay, I was only paid $1,500 before tax, so after tax it would have been about $1,200 or so, but since I got that home time money, it went up to $1,600
@bigsmoothtruckin Жыл бұрын
Before tax the 2500 mile week was $2,200, take away the $600 it would be $1,600, and my 3000 mile week was $1,900 and the other was $1,800 before tax. That's $200-300 more than the 2500 mile week. Plus you have to factor in any other pay I could have gotten like layover or detention. The next time I'll be more detailed

I don't think I actually get per diem. If you are a company driver, then yes, it is forced dispatch. If you go lease, however, you can deny any load. What's the difference in pay if I came home for 2days a week
@bigsmoothtruckin Жыл бұрын
It really depends because remember, if you're out a week, they can't send you every available load because they have to get you back home on time. I've never worked only one week for that reason so I'm not exactly sure. But a friend of mine works 2 weeks at a time and on his way home last week he made 3,200 miles (making .64cpm) and 4 days paid for ($100 each day, totaling $400 on off time) so I would always recommend 2 weeks worked or more so you get that home time paid for. Every 7 days out, you get 2 days off. Anything after 14 days out (4 days off) are paid for, 100 dollars a day. So if you work 3 weeks straight, you'll have 6 days off, paid for. $600 total. All the way up to 14 days off paid for.

All good. So it's different from a normal work schedule. You run off of a clock. So you can drive 11 hours a day, and work 14. But you almost never work the full 14, some days you barely work at all, but it still counts as a work day. And you can't work over 70 hours in a work week, then you need a 34 hour reset. So basicly I was told you have to choose between Guaranteed weekly pay position or an OTR position where u get paid for home-time. Can u tell me more about that? Thanks man. Really thankful for the good info.
@bigsmoothtruckin Жыл бұрын
@@steveedelen3251 Yea you got it exactly right, actually. OTR drivers get the benefit of PTO on off days and guaranteed pay doesn't. Reason is because if I'm home for 8 days after working 4 weeks, I'm not getting paid unless I get that home time paid. But most guaranteed paid people go home once a week or every two weeks and guaranteed to get paid a nice check either way. But I heard there's a criteria to "qualify" for the guaranteed pay so I personally feel OTR is better in some cases and guaranteed pay better in other. I plan to stay OTR. Hope this helps
