To all who keep saying that Africa has 54 countries, officially it is 55 as stated in the video! Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (Western Sahara) is the one most people are missing out on the count. It is a country that Morocco is claiming to be part of her territories. But Sahrawi Republic, as it is also known, is recognised as a separate country by the African Union. We think the African Union would know all its members. au.int/en/memberstates For further reference you might want to read this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_Union and/or this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Member_states_of_the_African_Union

Africa is more than 54 countries if we are talking about nationality and how people self identify. Maybe its time for Africans to define themselves apart from what colonials chose to do whats easy for them. /i hate the question "how many countries are in Africa". It pains to know what is happening here

It might be time for you to grow up.. Europe does also have "countries" that are not on the map. It isn't so black and white. The past is past. Do what you can now, without being a victim forever. If you care so much about colonizers in the past, you have no time to act in the present... I come from a country that is not rich and has also been done injustice because we were not enough to fight. Our present could have been better if it was not for some countries that wanted land, natural resources and power, but what can we do now? Blame them? What is the purpose? What has been done, has been done. The change is now, not then.

@@AndraSterian What a patronising aggressive response to a perfectly positive answer the gentleman above you wrote. He is advocating for Africans to mentally move away from the past, remove the colonial shackles and define themselves in a new more positive way, according to their own identiries. To say colonisation is in the past and has no effect on the current state of Africa is very unintelligent and naive on your part. Generational trauma is real. Scientists know this. Also everything from elections, to military conflict to Trade deals and education is strongly tied to neo colonialism. The gentleman above wants Africans to enlighten themselves, educate themselves and move FORWARD being former subjects to European nations. That is the mentality of a WINNER! Not a victim. It seems you just came here to have a rant and accuse black people of being victims and try to dominate the conversation. Leave Africans to discuss ways to improve their own future and stop trying to insert yourself in affairs that have absolutely nothing to do with you. Acting like a typical "coloniser" and sticking your nose into topics that do not involve you. Maybe worry about your own nation and government and leave other people to build theirs. Sounds fair? It is obvious English is not your first language, but maybe next time use Google translate to actually understand what someone is saying before typing an unintelligent response. Good day.
