They call it the 64 million dollar question, or the one no one wants to ask but everyone wants to know. How much does a KZbin channel with 100,000 subscribers make? Mike puts the rumors to rest and opens the books.

@@TheDvt America was built by the hard work and dedication of independent business people like Mike and Erin. The vagaries of season, weather, business cycles and changing tastes are always with us. My mother worked as a civil service person and came home at 6P.M. and that was it! She had time for housework and kids. My father was a housepainter/ decorator and he worked at times 6 days a week and then it was all brushwork, no rollers! Backbreaking! At times Soulbreaking.That's why Faith is so necessary for independent workers and owners! Physical work can be crushing!

If you listened closely the ranch was homesteaded by Mike's wife's mother's husband's ancestors. It was vacant land that government deeded to homesteaders after they "proved up" on it. Then it was passed to a couple generations who apparently avoided urban growth which is non-existent in Wyoming. In other western states if growth occurs then water rights disappear. Denver has water rights all over Colorado that once belonged to farms and ranches. Now aqueducts send water hundreds of miles to reservoirs around Denver.Much of Colorado is high desert plains which requires 20 plus acres to keep one head of cattle grazing providing weather remains perfect year in and year out. Ranches are being regulated out of existence and millionaires such as Ted Turner buy up huge chunks and lease portions out to outfitters for hunting. A 5 day elk hunt can run $5000.00 or more cheap hunts may be $3000.00. Young people are clueless about what is happening with the land in the state and only need trails to backpack on in a National Forest. Trails! !

On the contrary......if you put content out for public consumption and you are asking for and accepting monies for this content, it's more than reasonable to ask about income, etc., etc. And, I thought Mike did an outstanding job in his response.
@cravinbob
@cravinbob 4 жыл бұрын
Consider that a cattle ranchers income is the cattle. How much of your money do you leave out in a pasture? He did mislead with his "first generation rancher" comment. Only a millionaire can start a ranch from scratch. Ranches are passed down over the years and started out as homesteads, the land was free as long as you kept it thriving but over time things change. I recommend you read a book called The Last Ranch. True story and quite eye-opening. And do you know where your beef comes from? Have you ever purchased a swinging side of beef? Most "ranchers" today do not know what "swinging side" means and try to sell you a processed package of frozen beef with who-knows-what cuts are included and how much weight is involved compared to the on the hoof and hanging weight a side would net. Trying to buy a side will get you meeting guys who have a half dozen steers each year, maybe, to sell and a website that takes a credit card and will inform where to go to pick up the box of beef. Also the tinhorn in the video said he feeds his cows... "cows" are females that have birthed calves. He only feeds cows so he will run out out of beef to sell soon and his bull his starving. He will have no heifers to grow into breeders or castrated little bulls called steers to sell and eat if he doesn't feed 'em!

I didn’t mislead anyone. I am a first generation rancher as none of my parents or grand parents are ranchers. I am working on a ranch that was homesteaded by a family other than my own. Thanks -Mike

I have enjoyed watching some of the channels bouncing back and forth. Zach and Brian like to give Cole the CornStar a hard time! Haha

captain_fluff_ I almost never skip ads, I just let them play. I figure it’s the least I could do. If a person makes quality content and chooses to share that for free (to me) on KZbin, it’s the least I can do to let someone else pay them a bit on my behalf. I will concede there are a few ads I just can’t force myself to let play though, lol

What I want to know... You watch an ad, it's over, the screen turns grey, there's a little 10 second timer in the bottom left corner. If you click skip at this point does the channel still get credit for you viewing the ad?

I once saw Mike and Erin on a yacht off Cape Cod. I think the yacht was called the "OWL". Mike was wearing a Brioni suit and smoking a large Cohiba. That was the moment I said damn, I need to start a KZbin channel.. (🤣🤣🤣)

It took a lot of guts to keep after it after you initial “helping out” was done. Raising kids and letting a family grow on a ranch will pay off in spades long after you and Erin are gone. Good job

I hate when people ask “how many cows do you have”? They would be offended if I said how much money do you have in the bank or how much do you make per hour

You guys are awesome. So far you seem so transparent and I'm happy to see that. The things yall do are so inspiring to me. I've been trying to somehow get into ranching for alot of the same reasons. So far no go, but I'm inspired continually by your videos. Thanks.
