Through algorithms, your video popped up and I loved every single moment of it. We used to own a 60ft narrow boat, but sold it a couple of years ago. We did constant cruising, but remained on Macclesfield Canal and Peak Forest Canal. This particular episode that you made was like ' Memory Lane'.....such beautiful waterways. The final scene of your video 'blew me away'. What a talented person you are. !!!! Hello Vanessa - greetings from Poland Your beautiful video put the sunshine back into my life today. Unfortunatley, we had to have Tina put to sleep this afternoon. She was 14 years old and had Cusshings Disease. Our decision came after consultation with our incredible vet. What a shame you have left the Peak forest but the Macclesfield is lovely too. That walk to the postbox was terrific. And all the new life was saw was superb

Hi Vanessa, I sensed you were in your Element with Zeph in the wooded area… what a beautiful escape from all the sadness in Britain at the moment. I’m moored right opposite what I believe is a Sedge Warbler… ( had to record its song on my bird app to identify it) every morning it climbs from the long grass and holds onto the highest stem bursting with so many different sounds? I’ve never heard one before as normally I get saturated by Chiff Chaffs and Blackbirds… I hope Zeph gets a new ball very soon 😊

Oh Vanessa ! Could this video possibly have been more tranquil and soothing and . . . to see the Green Tiger Beetle sketched at the very end was . . . TRULY SAVING THE VERY BEST FOR LAST ! The Green Tiger Beetle was a delight to draw- what a gorgeous insect it is! I haven't seen one before. It is one of our fastest moving insects and my goodness, it was rapid as it shot across the ground. England is such a lovely country, and the canals are a wonderful way to see parts of it. I hope they keep the ones they have and even expand on them. Whether I'm crossing Montana or watching one of your videos, I always imagine myself living in the homes I see along the way. Very idyllic scenery. I think narrowboat living would be nice for a season or a year, but I would eventually want to settle back down as I am, on my little acre. Your satisfaction in getting the black on your keel is matched by my getting the 30x36 foot slab poured underneath the pole building that's going to be my greenhouse.

Beautiful, never seen a pipit or the green back beetle, thank you for showing us, mountaineering now as well, Zephyr weren't the only one to have a treat 4 biscuits. We have been away again Cleethorpes this time, we heard a cuckoo and a young vixen fox came up to our caravan last night i shared some sliced beef with her and she took a piece out of my hand, she even gave me time to take pictures of her beautiful. I also keep a nature journal like you - here in Australia, I also love to draw birds and insects with coloured pencils. Laying down all the different tones of dry pigment from a coloured pencil, is so soothing - and suddenly you have made something from nothing! A blank page suddenly springs to life! Your sketches have real charm - and when I read this quote from Beatrix Potter, I thought of you and your exquisite talent with pencils - Beatrix wrote in her diary - 'Thank God, I have the seeing eye.'

I've lived on a 30ft boat cruising about rivers and seas, great if you are prepared (and young enough) for squalls and gales. I've lived in a 28 ft caravan and it was a wonderful experience, as long as I had a permanent parking spot on a relative's land to go back to. I looked into narrowboats but maneuvering the more confining canals when busy and no permanent mooring was an issue, for me. Still sometimes tugs at me, but I get a good fix from your vlogs. Keep up the good work!

Moving the narrowboat in the busy times becomes easier the more that you do it, but that is one of the reasons that I like to head for the rivers in the summer as there is much more room. oh that was lovely thank you, what a wonderful little walk through woodland you did, with the music and birdsong it was just right! Poor Zephyr loosing her ball! I have a small black Lab and she is exactly the same, really panics if she loses her ball and will run franticly around the house and garden looking for it, biscuits do work and normally we find it. thank you also, for talking about the cost and having a Narrow boat. We were looking into it a few years ago, but couldn't go ahead with it due to family illness. I've tried so many products on the bottom of our boats and they all say they prevent the build up of vegetation on the hull, but none ever do. Swans and ducks are the best way to remove it. We paid £10,000 for our 60 yr old Rugby boat, but have spent about £30,000 getting it fitted out. Keep up the great videos. We were due to go up the Maccelsfield and Peak Forest this month but life has got in the way.

The Pipit has found a habitat with the best views. my Brother used to go rambling in the Pennines when he was younger and a bit of Potholing too as a sport I'd guess. That was a magical path that led to the letter box Vanessa , I'm sorry Zephyr lost her Ball but I imagine the chews made up for it. I watch those Narrowboat sales ads and Boat sales on the tube so I can see how much second hand ones cost. I see the English weather last week was as changeable as it always was. What a lovely 'adventure' walk to the postbox, it brought back memories of similar walks as a child in N Wales through the wild garlic and bluebell woods with rocky streams and broken bridges although I had a premonition that taking Zephy's ball along wasn't going to end well!! I particularly like the way you effortlessly move from the broad ancient archaeological view down to the nearby insect and bird life while giving us some social history of the ramblers at the same time. I’ve been to London several times,Scotland and parts of England ie Bath,Stonehenge ,Oxford& Cambridge & Windsor Castle ie the usual tourist trails but my best friend who I was in boarding school with for 10 years as children up in the Himalayas ,lives in London ! I was last there 12 years ago and she says it’s changed a lot the last few years but I’m glad the canals are still beautiful and serene
