Good and fair point. Reef tanks are very much budget friendly, in the sense of a traditional budget. Doing research, building a plan, and saving to buy one item at a time will achieve any normal size Reef tank. That's how I got my own system, it took me two years but that's what a budget is for.

Hey there, I plan on setting up a 60x24x24 inch peninsula tank. I want to have two islands and so I want to use two smaller lights for the islands instead of using a large light, which should save me some money. So, could you help and tell me what lights I should use that is a little on the cheaper side but are just as good? I will mainly keep soft and lps corals but do plan on keeping some sps corals.

If you aren’t gonna have an sps dominant tank and only a couple sps corals In the tank, AI Primes will work well and are on the cheaper end for “high end” LEDs. Or you could get a black box LED that will get the job done but not have as many features. Also, T5s are typically cheaper up front but you have to replace bulbs every so often.

Nice ending lines! However, it is a real lot of money and probably unattainable for most people. Rising cost of animals and energy do not contribute positively in this regard. Love you r tanks and the optic white effect of the glass.

my 10 gallon only cost me like.. 200 bucks, simple light from amazon, seachem tidal 55, a sicce nano voyager 200 gph, and a basic thermostat, (heater is a eheim jaeger 50w (arguably too big for a 10 gallon BUT i live in a cold climate and during the summer we got ac running like hell) This hobby can be expensive as fuck or cheap as shit, depending on what YOU want to do with it

it's not about the hardware (it's mandatory a good lamp with enough PAR at least) it's all aobut the corals :D

@@spinster4000 i also reccomend an ATO like the Tunze one, i can't live anymore without it. I also have the skimmer by Tunze that is really good. For the light i have an AI Prime and it's phenomenal! Good reefing my friend!

@@vitto9402 you too man! and I plan on taking this tank down and selling it as we are moving in about 3 months? And my plan is to upgrade to the waterbox 50.3 and fit it with some bells n whistles and take my current livestock and transfer it, including the live rock which is live at this point

Sure you don't, but its HIGHLY recommended for rimless tanks without bracing. Why skimp on a $5 mat??

@@logan.vanderbeck that's the whole point in a stand as long as the stand level it dissipates the weight that mat ain't gonna do nun for anything especially if someone scapes one side of the tank heavier

You should absolutely have a mat on a rimless tank. Your stand can be level all you want but your floor probably isnt if you are living in an older house.
