I was from RI and always had Fisher plows. The last ones I ran were Minute Mount 2's They were great and trouble free. We always did bigger jobs than we were supposed to with pickups. One trick was (cutting edge were soft) we had a welder friend that made cutting edges from (hi-strength) scrap metal and discarded municipal blades. He also drilled the holes so that we could reverse them and get longer life out of a single piece. Fisher store would be open 24 hours during an event. I never had to visit them lonely people in the middle of the night. Oh and the Fisher trip edge! Only the bottom 6" of blade folds under when you hit an obstacle and the rest of the blade stands up straight. You don't lose any snow.
@fros73143 жыл бұрын
Im from Ri also just got a fisher
@jamesnm21 Жыл бұрын
There's no sense in flipping a cutting edge. You need a certain amount of lap on the moldboard and the rest is cutting edge beneath it and you wear it down until there's nothing left. You just make twice as much work for yourself by dividing the edge in half and putting wear steel on both sides that you have to flip when one side wears down.

Moved to Maine 28 years ago and have run Fisher plows the whole time. I only plow my home and a few friends and family, but I also make do with old used, beat up equipment and it still always works, The first plow I used was probably 20 or 25 years old when I got it in 1990 8ft dual control with a pump that ran off the engine, not electric and I could stack snow about eight feet high with that plow. Service was incredible. Fisher faxed me the entire installation manual which was so old they didn't have them anymore and they were not on line in 1990. Incredible plows and service.

Interesting with the back plows, I would love to try one. Every plow has it's pro's and con's, the best advice I have is find a dealer near you that is well stocked and open during storms and buy the brand they sell just make sure it's a commercial grade plow. Because if something goes wrong in the middle of a storm and you can't fix it then you can get it fixed.

@CarsonSchifsky6 жыл бұрын
@@stxtwmxify I would never buy anything else again. Like they were saying stainless can still rust and costs more. Common misconception is the poly weighs less, when actually it weighs more. It weighs more because it needs extra support because the poly isn't as rigid as the steel is. The true benefit to the poly is it doesnt rust on the blade and the snow will roll off it better and not stick as much as steel. Downfall is its heavier and can fade in color if you let your plows sit out in the sun year round.

Fishers all day 100%. Their cross beams on the stainless steal plows are extremely sturdy, practically built like tanks. FINALLY!!!! I Am sooo pumped you made this video Stan! Very well done comparison between the brands. I am glad you decide to take a further look at the Fisher plows! I still think you need to at least get one for a demo. As I was trying to tell you last year, even though they are made by the same company as Western, the Fisher plows are much more robust in comparison to the Western. I mean you take one drive through Massachusetts and the rest of New England, during winter time, and all you see on plow trucks are Fisher plows primarily. My father and I both run Fisher's; he has run them his whole life, I am on my first Fisher (that is on my 2013 F250). My first plow was a Snowdogg 6'8 for my Explorer Sport Trac, that I had at the time (such a great driveway/small commercial setup, made me lots of $$$.) The Snowdogg was a nice plow but I always had problems with the plow plugs building up with moisture, snow, ice..ect which would build up a layer of electrolysis on the plug pins, I also had a similar problem with the relay block for the plow getting moisture inside; such a pain in the rear but other than that the plow was a great plow. Now that I am rockin a Fisher plow on my F250, I won't use any other brand. I love my Fisher, I'm just in need of some snow as it seems winter has yet to Southern Massachusetts yet :( I would like it if Fisher would come out with a LED light upgrade like Boss did, those LED lights are awesome and I'm quite jealous that Boss has them!

Some good info guys. Plowed almost 15+ winters in Northern Michigan running all kinds of front plows and back blades. You will absolutely love a back blade when you get used to it. I laugh when a guy gets jealous and says, “what do you need a back blade for” 😆. Fortunately, do enough pest control work now and some lawn care in spring through fall don’t have to jump in a plow truck anymore. Only way I’d get back into the snow is jumping into a warm cab with snow thrower on front with a back blade in a very densely populated area to make big $$. Or it’s just not worth it, to me. Haven’t missed much snow plowing the last 3 seasons anyway with the lack of snow up here lol. Stay safe pushing snow gentlemen!

No protection from hitting stuff , man hole covers, curbs etc. No trip edge or anything. Going 15 in reverse and hitting a manhole cover .Lets see that in a video. You say down pressure on it but it scrapes worse than a front blade with no down pressure. No discussion on full or trip edge plows. Seems like u missed that all together. The v plows on your trucks are scrapping all the time pulling in uneven driveways. That cant be good for the asphalt in HOA.? Uneven where on cutting edge corners as well. Basically the same components, same controller, but with the added X bracing. ( you can get the dash mount joystick control for Fisher , maybe you would like that better). Jesse Dias Don’t know how you feel about some advice about that lol. I’ve had Chevy Hd and GMC and gave up on them. Been Ford Superduty last two pickups and absolutely love them. Gasser also dont need the diesels,ain’t towing any serious loads,so the Boss 6.2 V8 has plenty of go for plowing and whatever else u might need. Just my two cents don’t be mad at me lol👍

1987 JEEP WRANGLER and even older Meyers 7 ft. plow. 24" snow total so far this year North central MN zip 56655 plowing lake front properties where 16 ft overall length of rig is a must on these cow paths in and around lake front cabins. None of the stuff in this video will do me any good but a super size ATV such as the WRANGLER Its the nature of the terrain up here. LOVE IT!

Love fisher. I have 8 ft xblade straight with wings so I'm at 9ft 6 and I can wind row a full blade with no spillage. Love it man. 70 degree attack angle great scrapage and back dragging. On and off the truck in Less than 2 minutes. Love it! All I need now is some snow here in Mi. So I can get busy.

You can make down pressure on a Boss by utilizing the Smart hitch. I didn't do it because I would have lost smart hitch feature. Which means you have to connect manually. It actually isn't that hard to do. Thanks for videos. I had a Fisher prior to the Boss. Loved it! Have no customer support where I'm at in the UP

Have you ever looked at like a 6 or 7000 series John Deere tractor with a loader and box blade for pushing snow a few people around me in North Dakota that's all they run for commercial and residential units for the smaller storms they put a 16 foot box blade on the back and just have snow bucket on the front and for the 20in pounder snow storms they will put a 10-foot Pusher on the front and a snow blower on the back it seems like a really versatile system me being a farmer I can say I would much rather spend 20 to 30 hours in a tractor than a pickup a lot more legroom and definitely a smoother and more comfortable ride especially if you get an active seat

You WILL NOT regret any fisher product. I live in CT and have used fisher products for years. Other then typical hydro lines/maintenance you’ll have no issues. They’re strong and heavy duty. The remote controller is to me is the biggest advantage in operation. Very simple to use. The V-plow and XLS model is right up your alley. Especially the XLS model. It turns into a push box. Even the I’m open minded, I don’t see myself ever buying anything but fisher

Been running the same Fisher 9 foot straight blade mm1 for over 15 years have had minimal repairs on it and it has tackled some crazy snow fall. I tell every one I know to buy one ease of hook up (under 45 seconds) and it just works, up down left right and it stacks snow as good as any of the modern plows out there

I have used almost every plow their is to date. I have three sons who swear by boss, snow dog and my youngest and I use fisher.
