Best advice you just gave: "DO NOT RUSH THE TRIP"! I need to get better at that

Great advise on motorcycle touring. I've traveled the exact same way for close to 30 years. Very accurate cost analysis. The most expensive trip was my 1st Sturgis rally in '13. 14 days on the road 6 days in Sturgis and 6200 miles. $5300. Did it ghe 2nd time in '20, rented a house for 6 days in Leed, next town over from Deadwood. $2600. My lomgest trip was in '07. To Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, did all the major national parks. 7300 miles, cost $5100. 400 to 500 miles a day is decent, then I like to throw in a 3 to 350 mile day every 4 days or so. My crew usually try to stop every half tank. Great trip brother. Thanks for taking us along. Bring on the upgrades. I'm rootin fer ya!

My biggest challenge to alot of my bike road trips is finding friends to go, between finances, work, problems with someone's bike,ect.. it just all has to click. I dont mind riding solo but always good to have good company.

Took us a few days to realize we need to shorten down the daily mileage. Once we did that the days became enjoyable and memorable! Make sure you team up with a buddy that doesn’t steal your blanket at night ..😂

Even though that's still a lot of money, I actually would have expected even more. And what you shouldn't forget is that it is a experience of a lifetime and for that it's worth every damn cent. It was also great to come with you on the trip and see so many wonderful things. Thank you very much for that and I'm excited to see what happens next.

Another pro tip is to keep your cash inside of a clear tube and stash it inside of your gas tank just like in Easy Rider.

It’s been great watching your coast to coast videos John. There’s nothing better than long distance touring, last summer we rode 14,600 kms/9,072 miles on my 19 FLTRU over 7 1/2 weeks two up with the wife. What an amazing experience we had riding through 8 States and 9 Provinces from Vancouver, BC to Halifax, Nova Scotia plus riding down to Sturgis and had to stop at the Harley Davidson museum in Milwaukee. Bucket list trip for us, the sweet spot for us was 350 to 400 miles per day which gave us time to really enjoy the beautiful sights and scenery without just looking at pavement all day. At 67 yrs old it’s harder to put down the big miles anymore but who cares I’m retired. Keep up the great HD content and ride videos, from one of your Canadian fans 😎

That’s about what my wife and I spend on our summer scooter trips. Back in the day when I was single my vacations in sturgis I only had 200.00 bucks in my pockets and made it home with a dime left. This was in 81 and 82. Camping in city park was dirt cheap then. Or it could have been 80/81 I’m old my memory is shot. Lol.

Based on your cost and where you saved sharing rooms with Breakfast kind of worked out to 1 dollar per mile. Back in the 70's I think it cost me about .25 cents / mile. My how times have changed...lol I think if I did a long trip today - I would plan to camp every other day and a hotel every other day. I did do a 4 day trip from Texas to upstate NY on a road Glide about 8 years ago. One trick I learned was I would stop for breakfast and have my gallon jug filled with ice tea - make sure you keep you fluids going... Great review..

Pretty accurate compared to what I have done two. Budget $200/night lodging, 40 mpg average, and $100/ day food (higher if the wife is along), $500 misc. Then add $500 because shit happens.

Just did a 6,000 mile trip, except for two Mom And Pop motels at 70 bucks a night, ( ones I use on all my trips through Utah ) I stayed BEST westerns, Hamptons AND COMFORT INNS. Food free in the A.M a snack mid day, Dinner 40 bucks with tip. Gas, 4.00 bucks a Gallon except the Pacific cost, 6.00 plus a lib area rip off. Tires always new at takeoff, wear them out in the winter riding the desert states. Total cost for three weeks solo 2,600 bucks. One oil change. No bike troubles no cops, freeway and side roads all the way, stop and enjoy the areas you are in, Utah, Colorado, S.Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Washington, Oregan, and the land of fruits and nuts California, and back to Pahrump Nevada. Note: I carried a self defense weapon the complete trip. I am 75 and still enjoy the two wheel rides on my 2016 Limited 42 miles per gallon average, she getting old but still keeps on ticking, limited on up grades since I am limited on funds, life goes on. My wife and I travel with other couples on trips. Could be an overnighter or could be 3 week, 14 state, 6200 miles like last summer. Motels are the budget buster. On our trip last summer there were 3 couples on 3 bikes. Every 3rd night each couple got a room by themselves. My wife and I paid for all the rooms as we went along, then added it up and divided by 3 and the other couples scratched us a check at the end of the trip. We stayed at clean, sometimes older motels and our cost was $110/night per couple. 2 rooms for 3 couples every night, except a 4 night stint in Keystone, SD, where we found a room with enough beds for everyone - big money saver. Saw 109 in Moab, 42 and light rain on Beartooth. Saving up time and money to do another one in a year or 2. Very hard to get people to commit to trips like this. PS - I'm 64 and the wife is 59.

One thing you're excellent at is editing video, something I'm just lousy at, much credit there on something that gets overlooked, you have amazing editing skills🫵 it's like watching regular TV but so much better✌️
