Why no one ever mentions that charging at Tesla Superchargers at up to 250 kW is half the price of other networks or even 1/3 of the price if you charge at off-peak times. Also the quoted 2.4p/mile charging at home is for an inefficient car, for a Tesla it's 2p/mile. Teslas do exist, it's important to inform the public of all options so they can make an informed decision on which EV to buy.

Basically all public charging is more expensive then Petrol. I drive an EV paid for by a company but it makes no sense as a private. User without a home charger. The price is not 48p it’s far more-I’m on the road every day this guy is talking bs

48p/kw you'll be lucky to find a public charger on that price. More like 78p/kw, I hate it when I turn up at a petrol station and to get the best price I have to fill up from the ultra slow pump!

My local public charging network charges 28p per kwh if you have a subscription to the network, and you are a heavier user.... My local charge network operator offers 3 levels of subscription, depending on your level of usage. 28p per kwh is the cheapest rate for heavier users, with (I think) 38p per kwh for the lower mileage driver, again using a monthly subscription.

I have a Ohme home charger with Octopus Agile and tomorrow between 12 and 4 i can charge my car for less than 4.5p an kwh. So i will get about 80-90 miles and it will cost me pennies Ive had my car 3 months this weekend and driven nearly 1800 miles. It has cost me about £45 instead of the £200 it would have done

You must take into consideration that if the sales of Petrol/diesel cars fall the lost tax revenue, currently around 60% at the pump, will be added to the EV charging tariff.

Er, no it won't. Plans are already in place to move the tax burden from fuel to actual road *usage* as in pay per mile. This will ensure that even those who get fuel for free, or live off-grid, and charge their car via solar or wind, will still pay their share to use the roads. Road Tolls will apply to *all* vehicles, however they are powered, not just EV's... It seems you may be unaware of the ongoing discussions between the government and the AA, RAC and other involved parties regarding the implementation of Road Pricing? It is alleged that Edmund King, the Head of the AA, has already devised the basics of a workable road pricing scheme, and it is rumoured to be a modified or revised version of this we may eventually see.....

@@Brian-om2hh This sounds plausible. It will hammer anybody who actually uses their vehicle (like me) I can’t wait!

0.32p per kW/h x 60 = £19.20 or am I missing something here?
@HoaxPolice
@HoaxPolice Ай бұрын
this is my thought to...... i can get £20 in fuel and easily do 200 miles - also normally they are 70p per kw at the rapid chargers so this would be £40 for 200 mile range ? Stupid if you ask me lol
@Williamjjp
@Williamjjp Ай бұрын
@@HoaxPolice yes I saw a rapid charger at 77p per KW/h off the motor way, as expensive if not more expensive than petrol per mile. Make sense if charging from home but everywhere else is quite expensive.
