Hi I wish you'd contacted me before buying a van. You should have gone with the 2.3 or 3.0 Ducato. Much, much better engine. Your van is running the transit engine and we've stopped selling those last September because of very unreliable gearbox and engine. If you get stuck for parts for these items my friend breaks these vans near Leicester (and is very busy due to there unreliability) and is the most reliable inexpensive place i know. He only sells to dealers but i can sort you out. Who knows you might do 30,000 miles before any problems. Good luck in that sense. Sorry for such a downer of a comment, really like your conversion, well done indeed. So impressed. Much love Rupert xxx
@rupertbeeston1564 жыл бұрын
Btw i want to redeem my comment to ensure you feel positive about the van. I would estimate it be worth 20-22k x
@campervibe4 жыл бұрын
Hi Rupert. To be honest I'm more concerned about the ecu failing or major electrical problems, what with it being French!! Our last van was a relay, same engine and we had no issues whatsoever, it went on and on and on. My car at the time was a volvo, supposedly one of the most reliable on the road, it spent 4 months out of 12 one year in the garage. At the end of the day if its gonna break its gonna break. There are faults and issues with everything, I could have bought a sprinter, the thing would still be running even though the body will have rusted away around it. It's just my experience of motor vehicles, but there are good and bad ones of every make and model! We will look after it and hope for the best. As for the value of our van, that's not what we have built it for, to us it's worth whatever it gives us in happy memories! Thank you for the input, and thank you for watching 😁👍

camper vibe absolutely, we’ve never wanted to buy a ready built one. We saved around £4000 converting the last one ourselves and probably even more on the current one (if we ever get it finished 😂) although hoping this will be the last conversion we have to do! Didn’t realise you did photography too, are you missing going out with the camera as much as we are?

Well with the way Emily changes her mind I think I'll be doing vans for the rest of my life lol! Yes, I am missing getting out with the camera soooo much, especially as I've been so busy with the van beforehand that I hadn't been out properly for ages. I live smack bang in the middle of nowhere and when I go for my daily walks there is no other people about so could probably take the camera but not sure if it's ethically OK at the moment so haven't done it lol! Hope your conversion is going well 😁

Not having neither the space or the knowledge on how to build any of this is kind of a big challenge on the road. Another great video, it’s amazing how the costs mount up but worth it for the Camper that you want. Wouldn’t worry too much about the mileage as you’ve got a Service History, regular Oil & Filter change will keep it sweet. Regarding your comments about fitting an awning and adding a Heater I have fitted both. Looked at Thule, Fiamma & Dometic awnings, Thule was silly money and went for the Dometic PR2000 in Black which came it at just over £600 with brackets. Personal choice but I think it sits better than the similarly priced Fiamma. Heater - Had an Eberspacher in my T4, when it come to my Relay I looked at Eber’s, Planer and the cheaper Chinese Heaters. I went for a genuine 4KW Planer as it was good value and peace of mind with UK packed Warranty. I have a source for these and his prices are very competitive, I tried to Dm you details but sadly I couldn’t figure out how to do it.

Amazing stuff - very impressive guys. Can I ask where you got your sink from? Along my travels I salvaged the most beautiful piece of wood that I would like to make my kitchen counter top. Unfortunately it is really heavy so I’m relying on cutting chunks out of it, namely the sink! I heard it’s key to have a deep sink in motorhome a because of the regular washing up. Your thoughts?
@campervibe4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Victoria. Our sink is a smeg umd30. I think it's important to have a big sink for washing up and even washing, but you also have to bare in mind that if you are wild camping then water can be an issue, you can only carry so much and keep filling a big sink will use it up quickly. We've gone for the smallest big sink we could find and we also have a small plastic bowl for when there are only a few bits to wash. Hope that helps lol! 😁

@campervibe4 жыл бұрын
Hi there. Thanks for watching the vids, glad you are finding them useful. We haven't changed our van with the dvla as they have recently changed it all up and it is now extremely difficult to get it through. It's not a problem tho as you don't need to change the v5 to be able to insure it properly. We have it insured as a camper under conversion, after 12 months we will do the same again. It's cost us around £600, I've also heard Brentacre are a bit cheaper than that. Hope that helps.

Hi Louise and Emily, do you have your van registered as a camper with DVLA and is the insurance based on it being a camper. Just wondering as I am part through my build but it does not qualify with DVLA as a camper due to the number of windows required. Great job on your conversion, should be very proud.
@campervibe4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ashley. No we haven't re registered it as it has no exterior decals so wouldn't pass. It's currently insure as a camper in conversion and I can just keep renewing it at that every 12 months. Hope that helps.

Hi, it took 8 months and that was working on it nearly every weekend, plus a couple of full weeks over Christmas. We were really slowed down tho by the filmining, it takes so long, so if we weren't doing that it would have been much quicker.
