A far cry from the 28 dollar beach condo you started out with. That video inspired me to come out here when you put that video out, brother Marco. I still watch that one. But it has definitely gone up since I came out here 5 years ago. Mine for 3 people in Lipa City are 12,500 rent for 2 bdrm 2 bath apartment, 500 HOA a month which includes security and garbage, 6500 for electric, 1250 internet, 750 water, tank of gas is 850, 25,000 for groceries, eating out 2000, animal food for 1 dog, 3 cats 3000 and taxi and bus service is 2000 drinking water is 30 pesos for 5 gallons so 25 gallons a month. All in pesos which comes out to around 51,500 or around 950 dollars a month. So it is still cheap to live out here.

The guy in the video sets out in his description Rent 9,000 ($160.99 USD) in small province town - both of these guys pay very cheap rent in the Province. So of course you can live under $1,000 BUT just with different rent depending where you live in the Philippines your budget will be easily over $1,500. I don't see anyone saying a doomed life on $1,500 - if they do I agree with you that is not right. I see the opposite and it annoys me when people say how great it is and can live or $500 per month - MAYBE they can but why? I have had many different places in my 8 years here, the lowest $120 or 7,000P for studio and highest US$955 or 56,000P Ufor one bedroom BGC Condo (would have been US$1,280 or 75,000P per month if I didn't sign a one-year lease) and I have stayed in houses in Manila that pay 200,000P per month - VERY EASY to spend more than $1,000 in the Philippines per month.

What do u do about healthcare or emergency? You have money saved for medical emergency or insurance that pay most of the costs? I lived in the PI long time, and visiting 30 years. Many times if u live in low rent area you have to deal with noise at night, karokee,,,roosters,,,people partying,,,,Plus u are living with the locals around you, goodluck to find really good neighbors. If I was a single guy in the Philippines I'd stay in a hotel. Longterm stays are negotiable and finding a nice place for $500/month wouldn't be difficult. No electric bill, no water bill, no internet bill, maid service including clean sheets and towels. I averaged less than $20/day all over the Philippines and didn't stay in fleabag rooms. The beauty of not committing to a leased rental agreement is when you get the itch to go somewhere new there's no hassle. A $35 (or less) plane ticket gets you pretty much anywhere from Davao to Cebu to Manila to Clark. For less than $200 you can bug out to any other country SE Asia.

Here in Aurora Province. Electricity = avg. 3-5k ₱ ($53.61-$89.36) depends on aircon, water heater usage. Water= 0₱ ($0) running a water pump from well with filtration system. Internet = ₱1000/ month ($17.87) Gas for 3 months ₱1000($17.87) Rent = 0₱ $0 Garbage = ₱0 ($0) cans, bottles, plastics collected and brought to barangay garbage collecting area. Biodegradeables are burnt in open field. *lunch for 2 in the nearest carinderia ₱200 (about $4.00)

It makes complete sense to get a solar generator with a couple of panels. With how much electricity costs there you would pay for the small solar system within a year. Plus it gives you content. Check out the ecoflow delta models. It's plug and play. It's mobile. The price point is doable. Maybe check out the cheap Chinese solar. Paying that much for electricity is crazy. Your paying a Filipino house payment just to run the a/c

I see so many budget videos, and many folks don't realize that you need at least 3 to 5 k to get settled in. The initial cost is all inclusive because if you move into a place, you will need a first last and a deposit. Then is furniture and appliances and all the little crap that goes along with that. Then you need food and sundries, and the list goes on . Depending on the visa you get will depend on how much you will pay. An srrv classic with pension is around 13,000 with the 10k deposit and all the fees thru a PRA approved agent. So yes, it can get pricey just to get your foot in the door . After that, 1500 a month should be able to keep you going unless you have a girlfriend, and then you can add another 500 a month to that.

I live in central Luzon in a 68 sq/m house with a yard. My total living expenses are 80,000 pesos per month for two people. I run my air cons, 24/7, high speed internet, tvs, all the kitchen appliances and a car. The car is paid for. My total investment before moving in was 850,000 pesos, this includes the car. My start up costs included 2 air cons (splits), fridge, stove, kitchen appliances, washer, tv and some furniture. My car was 500k. These of course will very, depending on your situation. I did buy the better appliances and air cons. My car is a Honda. Hope this helps.

They’re other housing here to rent, you can get cheaper, depending on your preference. I’d also suggest, wait on buying your transportation, whether a car or scooter. You can use a tricycle, jeepney and the Point to Point buses at first, that’ll cost you at the most 5k per month.

If your retirement in USA $1500 US a month that's enough to live here in the Philippines. There is no where in the USA that you could pay rent and bills for $1500 a month. Good overview - I laughed when you mentioned you don't use the regular guy because of issues of separating - it is the same here in Sibulan (next to Dumaguete) - in our subdivison we pay 60P (US$1.02) per month for 6 days per week pick-up, Mon-Wed-Fri wet foods and garden waste, Tue-Thur-Sat garbabe and recycling but as you said it must be separated or they will not take it. I pay the 60P per month and haven't had problems but an American buddy 2 blocks over is the same as you and pays for private pickup every few days.

I just gave retirement a test for a month in Cavite, just outside of Manila. (specifically General Treis) I will caution others that if you go deeper into the local areas, there is a cost. I found myself in a decent neighborhood of townhouses where no chickens were allowed and no loud tricycles either, but everyone had dogs. Some had dogs in cages outside of their homes even. These dogs were bored and allowed to bark at all hours without any type of control. It was maddening. Other things I found was the traffic was heavy, filled with chaos and that I do not fit well into a Jeepney. There were no restaurants conveniently around, no bars, and no supermarkets. The local street market was handy and within walking distance, but a bit rough with pig quartering going on out in the open. High speed internet was good. I found that I could not handle living that much like a local. Cavite is a good place to go if you want to stare at the wall or sit in loud traffic for hours to get anywhere fun. Just food for thought for those that think they want to get away and live like a local. Be careful what you wish for and try it out for a short time first.

De hele dag naar hun gsm kijken. Ze zijn gewoon verslaafd. Ik heb nu een Indonesische vriendin uit west java en ik moet eerlijk bekennen dat het standaard leven veel goedkoper is dan the philippines. Bovendien indonesia was een dutch kolonie geweest , ik ben zelf dutch, ik voel me dus helemaal thuis daar. Ik heb ooit gelezen dat the philippines een van de duurste land is in Azië. Alle respect voor the philippines, maar geef me maar indonesia waar het eten fabuleus is. En super goedkoop. Alcohol is duurder dan the philippines, toch kun je een lekkere flesje rode wijn voor maar 8 euro kopen. Nogmaals niks ten nadeel van the philippines. Het is en blijft een prachtige land.

Many foreigners living in the Philippines are using a tourist visa, getting an ACR card. If your not living with a Filipina you yourself can't sign up for internet because they wont recognize your ACR card or foreign passport. At least the places I've contacted....ohhh they'll say 'do you have a Filipina living with you?'....they want the commission so will try to get a Filipinas name on the contract.

My bills for the house/family run a solid $2,500 a month. We have no mortgage...i payed for the house a bit at a time over a year and it helps i did my own concrete forms mixed/poured my own concrete..hollow blocks i had brother in law do because he does far better than me. Anyway...its a 3 bedroom one /kitchen/dining room cost about 6000usd. My shop a little less if you exclude my welder/plasma cutter/compressor and other tools. My power runs about $90-$125 a month Gas for cooking around $25 a month or 5 weeks. Man, I live on $2400 a month. So far in the video, his bills total around $350, if you cut that aircon in 1/2 like he said you could do for a bachelor. When I was in Manila, I was spending $550 USD for an AirBnB in one of the towers in Pasig, next to Makati. My friend was spending close to $800 USD a month for an AirBnB. That included everything, plus instant water heater, internet, electric, etc. He and I both ran the aircon 24/7 so, I'm guessing, the owner of the condos we rented was having to deduct at least $150 USD out of his rent to us. We had fantastic views of metro manila ... we saw a lot of smoke from small fires. I had an ad on pinalove and there were a lot of s3x workers, but I would get a lot of drunk Filipina asking to come spend the night with me on the weekends. I always asked for video to make sure they were real and they were always on the bus with the blue seats.

We have a 4 bedroom house ,2 crs and a sari sari with a fridge and a soda cooler about 6 foot tall , we have a 2.5 horse AC split that we hardly use and our electric bill runs between 2500 to 3500 , water is well , internet 1,150 , gas 850 .. We live good on my retirement because our utilities are cheap . 3 of us so about 3k a week food . We have a good savings account . When i first installed our AC i ran it 24/7 and my first electric bill was 19,689 so i quit that lol. I pay 7500 pesos every 6 months for my visa and i think 3500 a year for my alien card .

I bring $5,200 monthly to the table in Cebu. My wife and I own a nice big house in the burbs. We lack for nothing, and travel A LOT. I would not dream of moving here on any amount less than $3k a month. I did not bust my ass for 35+ years to retire to the Philippines and take a vow of poverty. I like my toys, I like my creature comforts, and I like my western lifestyle/ diet Whatever floats your boat, and I do not look down on anyone, but I feel bad for the expats scraping by here on $1,500 a month. You are better off in the US with all the social welfare safety nets

@@jettp3810 no, that is elitist. Cabs take us all over cebu city for about $150 a month. We have 3 cab companies on call. Maids steal from you every chance they get, and it is cheaper for us to clean our house ourselves.

I really don't know the details on every day life with you and your family. There are ups and downs in every relationship from Friends families neighbors to unknown people. I remember one of your videos when you were letting someone borrow money and they didn't pay you back and the fact that you said you should have went about it in a different way. If you are over there you have to really realize that folks over there don't have the blessings that you have. They have other blessings but what I'm talking about is financial I've watched a couple of your videos and was observing something You are a very knowledgeable man and have experience life that every end that is because a lot of comments that you say I get Some are very funny which only basically you or I would understand The video where they went and made mango shakes you were asking us to comment to see if it would be messed up if they're having fun when you said a foreigner wasn't there with them you're referring to as yourself I'm not saying but I'm guessing that in your mind if you're the one who provides all the financial stability for the family they should be happy to include you in their activities Because of the language barrier and the culture barrier there are times when your family is more comfortable and more open with themselves talking freely Not to say that they don't mind you being around Here are some of my observations that I noticed that you can fix and they will actually like you a lot better When you guys were taking a trike ride that electric bike and basically everybody was there who is the guy that was actually driving I forgot his name I don't know if you give him any kind of money or anything before after during so that's one thing that I should consider what I saw in the video you went to 7-Eleven and you got snacks for basically your son your daughter your wife and your sister-in-law but I didn't see you give any kind of a drink or anything to the guy that was driving the bike They are very humble people and will do a lot of errands and favors for you but also you have to consider that I scratch your back you scratch my back sort of way a gesture of even hey man would you like something to drink or just bring him something you know that would make him happy Also it's a cool bag that you have when you got that from I guess from the Goodwill the little backpack that you can carry your beer your plastic wine cup and your bottle of rum or whatever One of the cultures in the Philippines at is that you really really respect your elders You serve yourself a bottle or I would say a glass of wine and for me that line should have been offered to her mom your wife's mom and dad basically the elders before you even took a sip or a drink your wife's mom came at the picnic table and I saw him I guess she might not drink any wine or anything like that but one thing is to always offer whatever you have or bring a gift I know you bought the shrimp and bought everything but something special like a chocolate or something It would be also nice that you actually help in building a fire or cutting the fish or doing something to help prepare the food and the meal I know you joke around a lot but when you gave him that little little knife it's funny and everything but I mean some people don't take it as funny you know so I don't know it's just one of those things that I think you shouldn't joke around like with preparation of the food I think you have your ways about you since you were young and all the friends that you've been around you can joke around and stuff like that and I get it and I get along with you really good But sometimes people will take jokes and they'll get tired of it You don't have to comment on every little thing that they do wrong unless it's really really important like when you were making the video and the kids brought the map and it kind of messed up your audio they don't do those things on purpose it's just everyday life that they're living I saw when you guys have the picnics see everyone does a little part and no one tells anybody else what to do I've had this mentality that if I'm the one that is providing everything financially and buying everything that they should get me my water get me this do this don't do this I'm the one ordering No one likes a tyrant and that's what tyrants do I'm not saying that you are but it's reflected on that You seem to me like a very intelligent heartwarming person and I do agree with you on one thing on Valentine's Day it's not about the money it's about love But women are women us men are never going to change then happy wife happy life Obviously you can't always be a Yes Man There are times where you have to put your foot down and let him know what the problem is and you can speak about it Most of the time they just live day-to-day and it's not their fault They have to as well adapt to who you are as well So what are my tips and what is the purpose of me telling you all this I think you're a good guy So the first thing is just keep quiet and observe and see the positive things that people are due Get in Baltimore in helping out it doesn't matter if it's scrubbing or washing clothes or cooking get involved a little bit more Let her and her family have her space don't worry if they invite you somewhere for include you are not basically it's their time Sometimes people are just frustrated and bored of you as well as you are bored of them and might want some free time and drink a cold one you know what I mean It doesn't mean that they don't love you it's just you got to take a break there's half times in football there's brakes and basketball because you just can't keep going on and on and on Take time to when they say something try to understand them if you don't understand ask them what do you mean by that then you can find out the positive things about what she meant instead of jumping to your own conclusions Remember just because you financially support them doesn't mean your word is law They might not contribute financially but they do it in other ways If you follow my advice the day you have zero money they will take care of you I pray to God that won't happen Let a person cook you breakfast willingly because they want to not because they are obligated or forced to just because you support them financially So basically avoid commenting every single time they do something Go with the flow Get more involved in the activities that they're in for example breaking a coconut learning how to do a fire looking at every detail a person does to help you out and kind of reward them giving yourself and then some personal space So at the very beginning to start off just be quiet and go with the flow You will see that they will change with you and they will invite you to different places I hope you and your family do well from here on out follow my instructions and you will be very happy I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos they are very very good because it shows
