I am closing the deal on a motor home next weekend, and after watching this video, now, I understand why everyone calls the money pits. This gentleman quoted thousands and thousands of dollars.
@curiousgeorge21933 ай бұрын
This gentleman quoted thousands and thousands of dollars. Well....yes, yes he did. The techs are billed at around $200 - $250/hr The parts are extremely expensive. An oil change for your car costs $80 and requires a $3 filter and 6 quarts of oil. An oil change for a coach costs around $400 and requires a $50 oil filter and 27 quarts of oil.

Remember if the motorhome breaks down or has a problem you as the owner will have to drive your motorhome to the dealership for service. There's many a reason why these luxury motorhomes only have a 1 year warranty. Be prepared to shell out chunks of money. Enjoy your new headache.
@markbennett868523 сағат бұрын
@ I quickly learned the lesson on my first trip out within a few weeks of buying the motorhome. It was riddled with problems. I drove out to see my daughter at the Air Force Academy with my wife, but while they were out enjoying the town, I was trying to fix the generator which wasn’t working. after the road trip from hell, I took it to the dealership where there were 25 warranty items that needed fixed, including the air-conditioning. There were cracks, the paint was dilapidated, etc. I sold it to a different dealer, and thank goodness I negotiated, well. I lost five grand on that deal. It could’ve been much worse. Counting the trip, the gas, the flight out to buy the motorhome, I’m down about 13 grand lesson learned, and now I shutter every time I see a motorhome, no matter how nice they look.
@ChristopherTevnan-g2j14 сағат бұрын
@markbennett8685 wow that's unbelievable. 25 things wrong. I'm glad you didn't get that hard of a hit when you sold it.

Thanks for this video. It is these types of organizations that would convince me to purchase an RV. There is so much marketing in this industry that people don’t give as much consideration to the downstream service. These guys are great and love what they do. The RV industry should be held to this standard at this level of service for every dealership in the country. All the auto manufacturers have it at a fraction of the cost per vehicle than these products. Great video and thank you to Premier RV.

I know I feel more confident cruising down the freeway knowing I have an annual full inspection and report to go along. These guys are top notch. Commercial vehicles require inspections annually in my area. But an RV can fall into a grey area. These RV’s are large vehicles and deserve the same maintenance and inspection schedules as commercial vehicles. Encounters with DOT/Police always go smoother when you have a clean and safe rig.

Bought my prevost 1 year ago...20k in maintenance ive done to bring her back to glory. half of that was chassis at a prevost shop cuz ive not the expertise or tools for airbags etc etc. the rest ive done myself...save thousands in labor. She is back to her glory...but more is still needed. I will be painting her in nov...saving 30k there. i also will be going to lithium batts that im gonna build myself as well...again thousands in savings....yet thousands in material. great episode Andrew!!!!

Thank you for talking about service Lube and filters on Diesel RVs. It speaks volumes about having a guy like ( Dave ) 😊❤ With that many years as a Diesel service Technician. This in my Humble opinion is KEY to looking out for all the under working of a RV class A. The owner doesn't see all this part of there Diesel Pusher RVs. MAN so,so important sense that is the parts that see the wear on the Road. There is a HUGE price difference on Diesel, but don't forget the Diesel takes more OIL in pan. On my Detroit Diesel 8V-71, just about 1 Gallon goes into the oil Filter alone. To fill my lower block it take almost 7 gallons. I also own a Detroit Diesel 353. It takes like 4 gallons and that is a baby compared to the massive 8V-71 The 353 still has a huge oil filter housing. My old girls take straight DELO 40 Wt. I keep a block heater on both. I use a magnet heater on 8V-71, it just sticks on lower oil pan, if you don't want to go through the trouble of putting a plug-in type heater like I installed myself on 353 Its just like your home water tank heaters The Detroits have the block hole for them. Boy in cooler weather 🌡️ they both start with Battery at proper voltage so smoothly.

Andrew, I must tell you that I totally enjoyed this video. In the mid-'80s, I was in the RV business, and my company was such that I could sneak away for a couple of days at a time. A friend of mine owned a dealership in what was then called "Traveland USA" in Irvine, CA, that carried the Country Coach Line. The result was that I would fly up to Junction City, Oregon, pick up a new Country Coach and drive it back to Orange County, California. I truly miss them because they were, without exception, one of the premier coaches in America. I only wish that, as a quite old retiree, I was able to still purchase one of those beautiful used ones as I still love their total commitment to quality but sadly, the budget doesn't allow for this type of expenditure.

Thank you for your extremely valuable videos! You've helped me decide where I want to go to buy my motorcoach, even though I'm in Colorado. I'm going to be jumping into RV living full-time. Between your videos and James' videos (AZ Expert) I've learned so much about the different models, and how they are built. I thought I wanted a brand new one, until I started talking to my car mechanic, who used to drive a Semi, some other RV owners, and of course, watching your channel. I'm liking the looks of that 38' Monaco with the tag axel, but I'll have to see what the beginning of November brings around. Thanks again for your great video style.

Be interesting to compare the annual cost to maintain similar gas verses diesel coaches. As well to compare the features and benefits of the two. We have had both going back to 1986. Have not had a current model gas class A. They have come a long way since the 80's and 90's. Our last diesel was a 2007. The first coach was a new 86 Sportscoach P30 Chassis 454 Chevy with mor-ryde tag. At the time it was a high line gas coach. Was an outstanding coach. Toured all the western states. Zero failures or breakdowns. Diesels were just being developed. The reality is things were far less expensive then than they are now! Over the years we had 1 class A gas, 2 class C gas, 3 diesel pushers and one 45 Teton 5th wheel.

Great video, Andrew. I'm curious about repairing the A/C's that seem to be failing so much. All all brands, but I'm most familiar with the Renegade forums. There seems to be a common problem with a copper tube failing, from inferior copper plus inadequate care in bending the tubing. The claim is that a good A/C tech can replace that copper tube with a higher quality tube, add a schrader valve for service, and send the customer on his way. What do you know about this problem and potential solution?
