Love what you're doing. Wouldn't it be easier to get re-usable dishes to freeze your portions in? I have done this before, and it really simplifies everything, and saves money in the long run - no need to buy baggies all the time, plus dishes are easier to stack in the freezer. Also, you can source frozen fish to take the place of capsules. . .

@@empress561vt hi Vanessa, please grind the raw and the veggies when they're too young. When their jaws become stronger, give them raw rabbit, chicken or pheasant bones with the muscle meat. Include a little organ. Been feeding raw for about 6-7 years and at times he might have some loose stool but canned organic pumpkin can remedy that. A tablespoon daily till the stool firms up should help. If you want to you can cook some organic white rice and mix with the pumpkin and feed with the raw. In no time the stool will firm up.

Those raw veggies are so good for them. Do you ever walk them on a leash? I know, not easy with three of them. What if you had 2 other people? I used to walk my rottey 2 to 3 miles per day. He never suffered from joint problems even after 10 years of age because of the constant low-impact exercise. It was quite a task to have a long day at work and then walking him, but his health was a priority for me. :)

yes they are!!! Yes we do, just hard in our town with as many loose dogs as there is cause I can't control other dogs, and unfortunately other dogs will approach my dogs in a very "scarce" manner and my dogs will react sometimes, so for their benefit and mine, I try and keep them to "leash only" areas. But we have a big property which allows them to run and get plenty of exercise within a double fenced in area!

I agree with you that the low impact exercise is the best. I made the mistake of purchasing a ball thrower so my Rotty could run after it to give him some more intense running and it played havoc with his joints even at a relatively young age.

I totally agree with you to give raw food diet for the dogs, and not just processed food. Actually, some people give 100% raw food to their dogs, but for some people it's not that easy to do because they don't have time for that. I give raw food to my dog too, and another time I give her processed food. I buy the raw food (meat and bones) from the local trusted butcher, and they always give me good quality ones. :-) For the vegetarian diet, I give my dog carrots and apples. In the summer, sometimes she gets watermelon. I have never given my dog raw broccoli, ummm...does it make your dogs gassy?

Hopefully you add raw bones such as chicken and rabbit bones, ECT. Also, if you can grind the veggies they will benefit from micro nutrients. Dogs cannot dijest veggies like we can because of the cellular walls of the veggies. They can eat raw bones and bones are critical for them

Right away it’s not about when it’s about how. Just mix the raw with the kibble at a slow paste until he’s eventually on raw. If the puppy throws up from one meal cut back a little bit on raw and then Add at a slower paste

Never mix kibble with raw. Firstly, kibble is not species appropriate. Dogs have strong stomach acids but not for kibble. That's why when fed only kibble, dogs produce large stool. When fed only raw their stool is smaller because all of the food is dijested

Grind the bones very fine for young puppies and when older make sure you include the raw bones. Not only is raw bones nessasery but the raw bones also cleans their teeth and keeps the gums healthy

Curious about this diet, on my second Rottweiler, my first lived 13 years solely on Iams dog food (horrible cheap food I know, just couldn't afford anything else at the time). He did have stomach issues on and off his entire life, but was active, healthy and not smelly....My new pup is spoiled big time and eats Candiae and mix of veggies and meats, eggs high end non garbage treats etc..... but I gotta ask- your feeding these dogs pretty much factory farm low end cheaper meats correct? I would be concerned about the chemicals, hormones and diseases in the meats. Wouldn't organic, free range etc be better ? I know it would cost a fortune though. But at the same time I am almost certain even higher end kibble uses meat that's just as low quality. Thoughts????

I am researching raw as we are getting a doberman puppy in April. We had 2 dobermans and always fed dry kibble. Im no learning the benefits of raw. I never did this as I thought too much work plus not knowing if they are getting the nutrients they need. This was very helpful. I had a question what do you change if it is for a puppy? Do you add different supplements? Do you add eggs or egg shell for calcium sometimes? Also I heard recently by the DCM group on Facebook that feeding a no grain food is not good for Dobermans because they have DCM as one of their issues. I assume Rottweilers are the same. Do you ever feed brown rice etc?

Just do some research online I feed my 4.6kg dog 90 gram 2 times a day off an 80-10-10 of pure meat and organs mix ....4 kg dog is normally 160g a day ..there plenty of calculators online for it...or tell me how weight and I'll tell you what you need to feed him ......can't beleive hes making you wait for that simple answer ...when you've been raw feeding this long it should be top of the head .

Hi Yolanda. Raw is the healthiest way to feed. Been feeding mine raw for 6-7 years and will never feed toxic kibble ever. Raw saved my dog's life and he's now 16 years old. He's a rescue and was in bad shape when I got him.

I thought a mixed kibble/raw diet should be avoided due to the kibble raising the dogs alkalinity levels which lowers the high acidity levels needed to kill raw feed bacteria.

I have tried beef, but my rotty always throws it back up. So the only proteins I am using are both bone in chicken and skinless boneless chicken. To that I am adding the 10% organ. Is that OK if I do not change the main protein?

Welcome! Just do some research as far as portions go for pups. I would say 12 weeks is the earliest I would do it
