Hi Ged, another great vlog, with informative and engaging commentary. The houses at the upper end were a bit disappointing, but I liked the condo-I would be interested in seeing more of those. Of all the houses you showed, the one in the previous video at 19,000 seemed the best value, since it looked quite stylish, but the the ones at 15,000 were also not bad. My rent for a 500 square foot apartment in Chicago is $1350 per month so comparatively all of these look cheap. My passion is sailing radio controlled yachts- I intend to bring two with me-so access to a lake is important ( although I could sail them in the sea) . My other interests are handicrafts and antiques, so as you travel around Thailand if you come across markets selling that stuff, I would be interested to see them. Also, any markets selling flowers. Hope your other subscribers will also be interested. Thanks and keep up the great work! Colin

Thanks, Colin. I'm glad that you enjoyed it got something out of it. There are many bargains out there due to lack of tourism because of covid. You don’t have to pay 50,000 for a good house or condo. My last place in Samui was only 10,000 baht a month (US$290) and it had a private pool. I have attached some links below to two previous videos I did of the house in case you haven’t seen them. I will keep an eye out for antique shops and let you know. Most markets here sell flowers as people buy them to take to make merit at the Buddhist temples. There are also many tropical plants for sale. Regarding your radio-controlled yachts there is a lake about 15 minutes drive from Hua Hin at Khao Tao., here is a link from Google maps…tinyurl.com/yckzd4j6 Links for house kzbin.info/www/bejne/qX21kKOkhtStaMU kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmaYeol_qt-ra6s Cheers Ged

Thanks for the video! I like the last house in your video. Could you please let me know the minimum lease term for that one? I am also wondering who is paying the commission to the realtor for the rental? The landlord or the renter?
@thailandmyland...retiringd23512 жыл бұрын
Hi Mate. The lease can vary in any of the tourist towns such as Hua Hin, Koh Samui, Pattaya, Phuket etc as a lot of the rentals were rented to tourists on a weekly or monthly basis. The last place I rented was in Koh Samui and I signed a three month lease but they would have been happy with a month to month lease. Most landlords now are just happy to get a tenant so you can pretty much ask for whatever length of lease that you want. The landlord pays the realtors fees, though a lot of landlords advertise privately on forums like Baht and Sold and Facebook Marketplace. I hope that this helps. Cheers Ged

@@thailandmyland...retiringd2351 Thank you so much for your time! Would it be possible to ship my car to Thailand?
@thailandmyland...retiringd23512 жыл бұрын
@@shine9003 Hi. I was going to ship mine from Australia when I came here to retire. At that time they put a 200% tax on importing a car, which meant that if they valued my car at $15,000 then they would charge the equivalent of $30,000 duty which made it uneconomical obviously. Things may have changed since then but I doubt it. You can Google importing a vehicle into Thailand and you will get up to date information. Cheers Ged

@@thailandmyland...retiringd2351 I am pretty sure that they have stopped all cars from being imported now as from February 2022 , i inquired about taking my car last month and they said it could be either 200% or 300% tax , so after I woke up on the floor I decided that I would sell my car and buy one in Thailand. PS: I am hoping to be in Hua Hin before December 2022 and I currently live in Mandurah Western Australia

from soi 112 you'd need your own car or moto right? its a bit far out! no public trans for sure. Or could u call a taxi?

Hi Gianna. Soi 112 is quite a way from town. You would need your own transport if you wanted to go into town on a regular basis as there is no bus route. But you can call a motorbike taxi or regular taxi. I'm not sure what the fare would be. I hope that this helps. Ged

@@giannagiavelli5098 Hi Gianna regarding importing your own car. I was planning on doing that when I retired here 5 years ago. At that time there was a 200% duty on bringing your car in to Thailand. Not sure if it is the same now but for me it wasn't worth it.
