With that being said... How much does it actually cost to own a super-yacht? How much do you think these millionaires spend per year on their super-yachts?

A super yacht is a boat larger than 24 meters and shorter than 50 meters. Above 50 and below 100 meters it is called a Mega yacht. 100+ meter yachts are called Giga Yacht. The latter two designations are somewhat debatable, the former one, the definition of a super yacht however is not.

Id like to see more information on maintenance cost, like how often the ship has to go to drydock to be cleaned. Ive never ever seen a rust stain on any pics of superyachts and I often wonder how they can manage that. I see the crew scrubbing the side of hulls with those pool cleaning brushes but I dont see how brushing a hull can prevent rust. You said the cost of hull cleaning is $30 per foot. So if you have a 300ft yacht, then thats only $9000, so I imagine you mean per square foot of hull surface. Also after refit the interior of superyachts seem to look like they are brand new, so I am assuming they tear out the entire enterior and deck and redo everything, because you never see interior or deck wear on pics of superyachts that are for sale. It takes about 4 million a year to run a yacht like he is talking about. He wasn't to straight forward about the cost per year in total. He never mentioned fuel either, which is by far the largest cost of the yacht.

10% the price of the Yatch is annual opex but don't buy one if you are not high passive recurring income. If you do not have passive recurring income of at least $1M a month you are not super yatch class. Simple.

In europe docking fees in the high season in Ibiza or other southern islands can be as high as 25 euros per foot per night that is about 30 dollars

Headaches an stress. All go with owning a seventy three meter yacht. My wife is the headache of the yacht , the stress is the enormous amount of money I spend just keep her happy and looking spectacular while we are on our vessel. It's not the money I spend at keeping up my yachts maintenance and all the other details that go with it. For I make too much money so I spend alot of it on my yacht. It's the stress and worry and the complaining I have to put up with from my wife.when she's not holding the right kind of hand bag . All hell breaks loose when she has a new outfit and her hand bag just isn't the right shade of whatever color or leather. She spends too much on bags, and the one she got in paris last week was more than a load full of fuel for our boat to get to st tropez. Her hand bag listed at 345 thousand dollars. ..I made the butler take it back , there was a no return policy . So she will be happy for a little while But I guess I wouldn't have her any other way .

it cost a fortune to have a boat, thats true, but, most of the super yachts, are built for rent to millionaires.. so, 1 week on a yacht like these, means almost 600 K, so.. I see as an investmen, not for me, that's for sure... but if someone has the money, do it..

It depends on the owner. Most yacht owners charter their yachts when they are not using it for personal use so it makes money for the owners and gets them a nice ROI on the yacht. So depending on the mindset of the owner it could be an asset or it could be a liability, most of the time they are assets.

@@AquaticalOfficial A new 40mtr superyacht can cost around $30 to $40 million. A ten year old one sells for around $15 million. They both have more or less the same running costs. You do not take into account age, builder, condition or material of yacht and a hundred other factors that set the cost. My experience is that I am a business planner for a yacht broker and work out the budgets for potential clients...enough said?
