Thanks for the video, loving my zvE1! When using HD you mentioned you can zoom to 200%. Is there any setting to enable that, or just use the rocker? So I’m taking it if shooting HD you can dynamic-active stabilize and still have a lot of room to zoom (as an easy example….10mm becomes 13mm with fun-act; leaving 13-20 remaining zoom)? Will be playing with this later today, but appreciate any insight you have on HD zoom optimization.

Finally a person that talk about this argument. And do a little bit of math too understand that if you want a ultra wide angle lens stabilized the only way to have it is to move to apsc lens! Because thanks to Sony 😒 now if you want buy a 16-35 for example, you have to consider the extra crop 😤 10% here...30% there...I don't understand why nobody say nothing about it. Canon still produce stabilized lens and if you wanna extra stab you can have it without crop! Panasonic is a gimbal! Nikon I don't know...but that thing is pisses me off. If I spend money to have an ultra wide angle lens is obvious that I want to use it at that exactly focal length! No. If you want the stabilized footage add 10%..and if you want more stabilized footage add 30%. It's ridiculous...

So I noticed someone that used the Sony zve1 and a Sony 11mm f1.8 lens in full frame mode was better off using active and a 1.5 zoom because just dynamic alone didn’t get rid of vignetting on certain hard turns, is that the same issue for this one? I have my apsc mode set to auto on my Sony zve1 which only allows you to shoot in 1080p so if i want 4k quality and the best maximum stabilization, is this the best way to do it full frame mode and just dynamic crop or have you tried the active crop and a clear image zoom?
@TechGearz_Levi
@TechGearz_Levi 10 ай бұрын
The 11mm almost works full frame alone with just the 10% active stabilization. Nice thing with the E1 is you can use clear image zoom and push in 10% more if needed and still have a wider field of view over using Dynamic if you want that. Either way, you can shoot in 4k and set the APSC mode to off. Simply activate only if you choose. I do have another video comparing the 14mm GM to the 11mm you can check out as well.

Is there any extra vignetting on the 15 mm 1.4 with nd filters?

how do u feel about the crop on ZV1 and its impact on the quality of the 4k. I am debating between A6700 and ZV1. I saw some videos but the quality with dynamic stabilization looked more like 1080 p.

I can run some tests and see. I also have an FX30 so can verify as well. I usually use 1080p on my ZV-E1 as it’s actually downsamples from 4K and using the Dynamic mode doesn’t lose any quality really. I have also done 2 small events with it using 4K and didn’t notice too much quality loss but with a 30%, it’s not as sharp as either the 6K downsampled 6700 or 7K downsampled A7IV. That said, no crop 4k60 and 4k120 with almost no rolling shutter is awesome but there is always a trade off. I’ll try and put a video together and upload it in 4K so you guys can “pixel peep”.

I wonder if it might've changed with an update, because for me a 15mm lens in dynamic active gave the same perspective (or actually negligibly, unnoticeably narrower) as a 21mm with no stabilization, so the crop factor's actually 1.4, at least on my model.
@TechGearz_Levi
@TechGearz_Levi 10 ай бұрын
In the video, I show the 15mm with Dynamic against the 20mm with no Stabiliztion what so ever. It shows about the same perspective. Also consider the Sony 20mm G lens has been shown to be slightly wider than 20mm coming in closer to 19.5 which is almost exactly what the 15mm would be at 30% crop.

Do you lose quality using an APSC Len on full frame? Do you lose low light performance or shallow depth of field? 11 mm looked really nice on my ZVE1. But I’m wondering if there is any benefit to ZVE1 with APSC over using an APSC body.

@@PuReXtremeGaming Uploaded another video on the channel. Short answer, yes, still some big advantages shooting on the ZV-E1 vs APSC line even with crop lenses. Better low light, better 1080p, still better bokeh…

How about the resolution. I shoot 4k Max. With DAS there I will loose 30% off my 12mp ZVE1 ? How about the resolution loss on clear image zoom?
@TechGearz_Levi
@TechGearz_Levi 10 ай бұрын
CIZ has been shown by many reviews to show negligible loss in quality if any. Dont ask me how. As far as the 30%, 4k video is only 8.3mp meaning the 12mp still has enough resolution to keep the quality. Keep in mind the ZV-E1 12mp sensor does not oversample like other Sonys. So it isn’t as sharp by comparison but also produces a quality more cinema like image in its results.

Comparing background blur: 15g 1.4 with dynamic 30% on a full frame vs 20g 1.8 no stab, which one will be more blurrier?
@sneakergearz
@sneakergearz Жыл бұрын
I actually show that exact comparison around the 8 minute mark. They are honestly almost the same. Maybe slightly more with the 20mm but it’s super close. Keep in mind, even when using Active mode, your 20mm is closer to a 22mm and you may need some kind of grip vs just holding the camera. That said, I do own but and are both fantastic. The edge going to the 20mm for being more versatile or a prime with what you can use it for.

To sum up what you've explained here, we lose some image quality as 30% cropping of the sensor means that it takes only 70% from the 4.2K sensor and upscales it to 4K. Correct me if I'm wrong here.
@TechGearz_Levi
@TechGearz_Levi Жыл бұрын
Didn’t really do any quality test or comparison really. The Dynamic mode uses clear image zoom actually so there’s not much loss of quality if any. I’m sure there is if you compare and pixel peep. But the luxury of keeping your kit small overall by not having to bring a gimbal (depending on your project) and having smaller lenses are the real benefits.
@DigiDriftZone
@DigiDriftZone Жыл бұрын
The sensor is 12 megapixels, so cropping 30% leaves you with around 9.2 megapixels, 4k video is 8 megapixels so there's no quality loss.
@halimrahman
@halimrahman Жыл бұрын
@@DigiDriftZone if my maths is correct, 70% of 12MP is 8.4MP and if the crop happens on the sensor then I guess you are right, the loss of quality is either zero or very minimal. However, that 12MP is not a 16x9 ratio. When recording, a portion of the top and a portion of the bottom frame are skipped. Hence, the actually recording data from the sensor is actually less than 12MP.
@DigiDriftZone
@DigiDriftZone Жыл бұрын
@@halimrahman Ah, sorry you are correct with the maths, I made a rookie error of dividing by 1.3 :) - Looking online, it says the 16:9 resolution is 4240*2384 or 10.1MP. So you are cropping 30% into that, giving you around 7.07MP, so around 1.22MP shy of true 4k. They then use some proprietary image processing to increase the detail captured with moderate success. Their new A6700 anecdotally gives a noticeably sharper 4k as it's oversampled from 6k but I haven't seen any side by side with clear image zoom, that would make an interesting comparison.
@DigiDriftZone
@DigiDriftZone Жыл бұрын
@@halimrahman Actually just to add to my last comment, maybe it is actually using the full height of the image for dynamic stabe, so it's only cropping left/right but not top/bottom and repositioning the image? - it's just a guess. If that is the case, that would explain how they are able to get such a sharp image with dynamic stabe.
