Seems to me from what I understand, the point of the removable arca swiss plate is so you could attach it to its side so you could use it in vertical mode.

Does the cage have any impact/improvement when it comes to heat dissipation? - it should in theory, as you're basically strapping a heatsync to the camera.
@jmackultra Жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same thing
@_mannyponce Жыл бұрын
Negative, the heat dissipation area is under the screen when closed. The cages have no contact with that area so no heat dissipation. However, tilta makes a nice fan module even if you need external power. Some folks have algo taped a passive heatsink but it's a bit sketchy since the screen wont be able to close.

Great review! very informative and touched on most points I am looking for; one quick thought regarding ZV-E1 overheating, do you think the white color camera body would help?
@gamers-generation Жыл бұрын
Hi there, thanks for the thorough comparison! Could you tell me how the weights compare? I really personally like the Tilta's appearance given there's a white/silver one (since smallrig doesn't have one in that color). Also according to the amazon page, it says there's a detachable Arca-swiss mount... was it updated? Thank you so much!
@TechGearz_Levi Жыл бұрын
I show this during the video where I build out the tilta. The added Arca Swiss mount is huge an feels like an afterthought. Takes away from the overall design and makes it very imbalanced with any lens. Vs the Smallrig where the arca mount is just part of the cage itself.
@gamers-generation Жыл бұрын
Ah sorry I must have missed that. I thought I saw a part where you said it wasn't included, perhaps you meant it wasn't pre-installed?@@TechGearz_Levi Thanks for the response! EDIT** Sorry I think I misremembered your video for someone else's review. You did mention the mount being an afterthought. How about the weight though? The listing for the Tilta says 1.5 lbs.. is it really that heavy??

So im going back and forth between the Canon R6 or the Sony ZvE1... I am a Content Creator but I also want to shoot commercials for local businesses, Music Videos for Musicians, and Short Films/Movies with my camera... Would the Canon R6 be the better choice??? PLEASE HELP!!!

How are you man. I love my E1 and can highly recommend it. But for any kind of paid work, I’m still hesitant to bring. I’ve done a few shoots with it with no pressure and it has been awesome. But if you are signing contracts and have to come through with a finished product, having card redundancy and no worries of overheating makes a BIG difference. I also have an EOS R so I think Canon has done some great things. R6ii has a lot of things going for it. My biggest difference is workflow. I would ask what computer you have and what coded will you shoot. 4K24, 4k60, 1080 only??? I ask? Because Canon only provides 10bit color support in CLOG3. Even then, you’ll have less dynamic range than in any Sony. So your gonna have larger files, have to color grade more, and having “Canon Colors” doesn’t mean anything really. Working with Sony, I know I get the most dynamic range, can use SCinetone for a quicker turnaround if needed, and can choose multiple codecs to keep higher quality or save on space. Depending on your editing machine. If you have the budget for the R6, I would consider the A7IV from Sony or even a used A7Siii for almost the same price even. I would also simply ask if your invested in any lenses yet. If not, easily recommend going with Sony. If you do have EF lenses you enjoy, the Canon will work awesome and extend the life of your lenses even more.

Is the tilta fan + smallrig cage combo possible? Or is the fan only for the tilta cage?
@TechGearz_Levi Жыл бұрын
They make it really only for their own cage setups. I would say, SmallRig does a great job selling all kinds of pieces so there might be a possibility to make it work. But your talking about $150 or so for the fan, plus whatever parts to rig it up. Vs a $40 cheaper fan that is probably gonna be 90% as good. One thing I wish the fan I have had is a battery level and a more secure way of turning off and on. I find it on and then dead too often.

In terms of design, I much prefer the Tilta, but big no because it doesn't have a micro HDMI lock like the Smallrig Edit: Mine arrived today. Mine (in Indonesia) has a 1/4 hole in the middle, according to the photo on the website. I didn't know that Tilta made several versions.

The Smallrig looks way better, but the tilta has the external fan mount which seems veeeery useful.

Thx for the vid ! Is it a rubber grip on the Tilta too or just plastic one ?
@TechGearz_Levi Жыл бұрын
It’s textured in almost a synthetic leather. Does feel nice but could use some padding as it were as it’s still just firm. The rubber on the SmallRig couldn’t be more simple but it also is more comfortable.

@@TechGearz_Levi Ok thank you ! So in the end, SmallRig cage seems to be a better deal :)

How many minutes do you get extra with the fan before overheating?
@TechGearz_Levi Жыл бұрын
Havn’t done a full test or comparison really. I did one official test in 92 degree heat, direct sun light, in 4k60, so probably worst conditions possible and got just over 22min. This was with the cage, on a tripod, with the fan, with doors open. Want to compare this to indoors, and even how it fairs with external monitor or external power.

IMO no one really needs to take the cage off most of the time anyway, and not many pro cinema people use hotshoes. Very unreliable connection point.
@TechGearz_Levi Жыл бұрын
I would only counter that the E1 is different. At $2200 plus tax and plus a cage and fan, your now the exact price range as used A7Siii with no cage, better handling, with no overheating issues. So keeping or at least having the E1 maintain is incredible small size is a big reason to own and enjoy it. All that said, I completely understand and agree, generally you don’t take cages off. The goal is to have a cage you enjoy that adds to the functionality of the camera. I really believe the handling of the grip, the added arca mount, and the fact you have to add another piece to use a top handle are all legitimate issues that really make this a let down.
@OmniVisionElite Жыл бұрын
@@TechGearz_Levi Yeah...Its also kind of annoying that Tilta gave ZERO thought to the cable clamp connector. Thats one of the major flaw points in that cage as micro hdmi is so weak
