HOW MUCH DOES VANLIFE COST... how we fund full time travel.. travelling in a van 2020!
As promised here are our full time travel costs for our trip so far, hopefully this will help some of you who are planning a European adventure in a van. Travelling in 2020 is confusing enough, what with the global pandemic and all, so hopefully someone will find this travel budget useful!
This is our full cost breakdown of our first months travel, through France and into Spain, as well as our vanlife weekly budget based on the 7 weeks we have been travelling Europe so far, we know some will do it cheaper but this is how much it has cost us to travel exactly the way we want to, hope this helps!

I came back from living and working in France at the beginning of march with the intention of saving through summer and heading out to Portugal for winter with my dog. A good laugh as always girls 🤣 It's a good idea to include vehicle maintenance in a monthly budget, so there's no surprises when you have to outlay money for tune ups, tyres, etc; And have on hand emergency savings for things like unexpected dentist trips, a broken windshield, traffic fines, chocolate factory tours, etc;

Thank you 😁 We didn't include maintenace as its vastly different depending on vehicle, age, existing milage, how many miles you do etc. And then for us, Lou does a lot of the servicing herself so much cheaper than someone who's paying for it. We personally have a lump sum in the bank for emergencies, vets, breakdowns etc. So not really a running cost. Most people can work out their own individual running costs and add that on, as our number may be completely different to that of a bay window vw owner or a low mileage brand new motorhome owner for example.
