It's been 19 months after my double jaw surgery... Sleep apnea is gone but... Still total numbness on the outside lower lip, chin and both upper and lower gums. Inside my mouth, very intense, strong, debilitating feeling of burning pain/pins&needles 24/7/365. The nerves had been stretched and damaged, possibly beyond recovery. Spent 5 months unable to chew solid foods, so I lost 23 kg. My future looks bleak (I'm turning 51 this year)

Happy for ya that sleep apnea is gone. That’s huge. I’m past 11 months now, and still have numbness mostly around the chin and lower gums. Doctor says it can take multiple years to fully heal if it does, or I guess we’ll see what happens lol

$110 for fucking saline. Jesus. And they're charging 4x street value per unit of opioids, and ??x goodrx costs for the other more mundane medications. I hate hospitals, I went through this with my late husband. Glad your surgery went well!

The looks was a bonus, but It was 100% about treating sleep apnea. If someone has experienced severe sleep apnea (as I mentioned in the video, I had an average of 54 episodes per hour), then you know what I am talking about. Life is miserable when you have it.

this is such an insensitive comment... i dont have sleep apnea but my overbite, recessed jaw, and open bite are unhealthy to have. as for why they're covered by insurance because it's a medical issue. they do provide great cosmetic benefits but they fix a medical issue.

Real answer, the physical sensation is a bit less, but everything else (the connection you have with the person, environment, and everything else) is much more impactful. I would say that when you take all factors into consideration, it doesn't change anything. (ps even though it's numb I still have full control of all my muscles etc, evident by the fact I can talk, chew and everything else without a problem)

I totally get what you're saying, but it's not so simple with american healthcare. And I had to have work over multiple years to prep, it wouldn't be realistic for me to travel to India multiple times a year for treatment and recovery.
