@liam144522 жыл бұрын
Larger brake disk means the pads have more leverage to stop the wheel which means more braking force…
@turbo_brian2 жыл бұрын
You can most likely get enough braking torque from the stock caliper to lock up the wheels, aka the maximum braking torque you can use. Even those grippy tires can still be locked up most likely. An aggressive pad compound and a quality rotor is all thats needed. Centric 125 series high carbon rotors and hawk hp + pads would be my recommendation if available.
@vr6one2 жыл бұрын
They can't focus too much on braking. Brakes alone aren't going to solve their 6 second problem and they can easily eat up 3k in a brake setup. The op is right, pads, better rotors and fresh fluid will be enough for a single lap. This is a sprint not a Marathon

Great series however I have some suggestions. Is there a way you can use a more accurate method of timing the laps. Pressing start and stop on your phone is bound to cause incosistencies due to human error and reaction speed. Another is that it is proabably best to do a run of 3 or so laps and take the average as the result you go by.

I think one of the big advantage of the supercar is the surface contact between the tyres and the road, because they're super wide. There is a reason wide body kits exists and it's not for cosmetics. It's always impressive to see the difference between LeMans GT Porsches and stock Porsches. You should have gone for wider wheels when you bought better tyres !
@pogtuber51462 жыл бұрын
would have required wider rims, it really wouldn' thave made much of a difference as they're not going to be doing wide body stuff
@Appletank82 жыл бұрын
If the wheels got wide enough, would it technically become an open wheeled car?
@MaxXxoUh2 жыл бұрын
Ahahah Appletank8 it would need the inner part of the wheel to start outside the body ! But I think the definition of open wheel car is up to subject, as some people argue it should be single seater, or on the contrary some argue a KTM X-Bow is open wheel while it's still contained in the body. And Pog Tuber, the whole point of my com was to get wider rims and wider tyres, and yes I expect it'd have made a lot of difference especially when they're happy with 3s gain with these thin wheels
@VeliRajasaar2 жыл бұрын
That's a common misconception right here. Tire size is pretty much only for heat management, the contact patch doesn't change all that much after a certain point.
@bakedbeings2 жыл бұрын
Aafaik the extra width is to spread the force+heat over more area, allowing the tyres to survive (a bit longer) the abuse of a powerful engine and hard braking. In a single lap a wider wheel might well suffer from being too hard to keep at ideal temps.

Before I installed sway bars I wasn't sure how much difference a thicker squiggly line under my car would make. It makes quite the difference! It doesn't mount the curbs as easily anymore, although that downside is overshadowed by the amount of grip you gain. Adding a strut brace allows you to get the most out of it. My Volvo was pretty flexible from factory, so again, no idea what it does for a Subaru.

Michelin Pilot Sport 285/30 ZR 21 were over $600 x 2 USD. Messed up a rim, repair $250, oh yeah, tow on flatbed to tire shop $150. Total was too much, but had to be done. Enough rubber on front and rear to keep car from sliding in hard corners. Only way I can 'burn rubber' accelerating is if pavement is wet. Another huge difference will be the amount of abuse the track tires can take vs the others. Sure it's only a bit faster on a lap or two, but I would love to see the numbers after eight or ten laps. I have a feeling the street tires will start adding time a lot faster than the AR1's. Also you're using a AR1, a CRS (CR1) would be a bit quicker as its less of an endurance tire than the AR1's. That means your peak lap time would be lower as the AR1's are more meant for endurance racing.

You guys should of used the Nankang NS2 R tyres… they are like the AR1’s but more suited to the road, a 50/50 between the Bridgestones and the AR1’s. They are also significantly cheaper than AR1’s with fewer drawbacks

At first I was like dang what’s making those tires so heavy, and then I was thinking dang 27 degrees is really cold and they’re in tea shirts and then they said it was hot!😮 I like the cars you test though lol. I’ve got a black mr2 spyder and a silver 2004 wrx sti.

You wil get more out off the semi slicks when you upgrade the car further because you can work the tyre harder before it starts to overheat
