Great tutorial! I have started doing a very light coating of vegetable oil to make my fondant shiny. Its lasts for a couple of days. The only issue I’ve run into is once the oil is on there, it’s difficult to attach decor. So I wait till the cake is done and then VERY light brush on oil.

Hi Karolyn, I really love your trace, cut and smooth technique for decorations but it wasn't really working for me with store bought fondant (and I tried lots!). I recently tried making marshmallow fondant and it's been amazing to work with. I'm in the UK, so not as easy to get marshmallows, but it's totally worth it! Thanks! xxx

Great information. Does one batch of your marshmallow fondant make the amount you started with, the 3lb 5oz (give or take)?
@KarolynsKakes6 ай бұрын
1 batch makes approx. 2 pounds of fondant. When covering cakes, I do recommend you have a little more than the amount that is used!

Love this tutorial. Can you make a video on how to make black fondant? I want to make black fondant but I keep avoiding it because I’m afraid it’s not going to come out black like it should.

Thank you for this tutorial it was well needed, I'm just a little confused because you said 2lbs were like 454 g but for me it would be more or less 900 g .

I would like to try your marshmellow fondant but im scared cuz it seems difficult lol. I feel like a 2lb container of store bought only gets 1 of my 8 inch tiers covered and its stretched pretty thin. Mashmellow fondant must give more bang for your buck lol
@KarolynsKakes4 ай бұрын
It definitely does! I'll be honest with you...it takes some time to get it right. You gotta work with it to get it to the right consistency. A lot of people try once and give up.
