I don’t have connections yet, but I have equipment and some basic/intermediate skills of documentary filmmaking, short form content and videography in general. my first inclination is to reach out to small businesses and just start doing shoots to build a video portfolio! l haven’t started yet though, planning to do this a lot once I graduate college. but do you have any smarter tips? not sure if you’ve done a video on this topic-but I just want to be doing what you’re doing soon in my career journey-freelance side gigs. would love to chat or have you check out my portfolio and let me know your thoughts.

I love your transparency in this video! You just popped up on my feed with a very touchy subject. You are correct that many people in this industry don’t talk about the finance part. It appears that we are all charging separate prices. That are drastically different. What amazed me about your strategy in pricing is that, with your skills and equipment you could easily be charging $2500 + each project. But you don’t allow pride to get in the way. Even through humble prices, your business is exalted. Very biblical concept. I’m going to switch my strategy up. @@Semesem_ It's an interesting idea. Basically a commission or kickback system. I'd be interested to hear a discussion about this strategy, vs. just providing such a good service (I am not by any means saying that you aren't providing a good service) that the clients *want* to refer you because they know you will do a great job for their friend or colleague. What are the pitfalls of providing kickbacks? What are the advantages?

You should charge more. Im a filmmaker and I do similar numbers but with 3-4 clients a month. Granted we are in a completely different realm of film. You more video work me more narrative, one common thing is clients are clients. You are only getting paid for the technical aspect but we all know there's a customer service aspect to the job that is really difficult. You having to deal with customer service for that many clients a month is crazy. You definitely deserve to get paid more than me. Charging more is easy when you define the charge and show the value. And increasing cost can be done offering some additional service that you know they would want for free but letting them know it's a trial then when they become accustomed to it they will pay. Amazon, Netflix all the biggest companies do it. You gonna burn out with that many clients a month. Good luck fam. Great work tho

@@AdioAsh I appreciate the feedback but where I am I know my prices are fair. I charge for the work I do and can make anywhere from $350-$3,000 depending on the job. And I know it’s because of how I charge that I’m able to not just stay afloat but have money to spend on myself and family and investments. At the end of the day it’s about what works for your business and that’s it. Glad to hear you’re doing well and hope it keeps going up for you 👍🏾
