I'm older than you, but I find that I learn so much from you. You're opening up about so many things and talking about things that a lot of women in general have never had the opportunity to talk about with their peers or mentors. I hope you that your videos are important and make a difference.

I love that you're opening up about this!! as someone who has severe financial trauma, it is so so imperative to talk about finances and be as transparent about things like this to other people. it not only gives people reassurance, but it gives them more information and hope!!

I needed to hear this love it. I’m born and raised in NYC I worked a regular 9-5 for way too long till I just couldn’t do it anymore. I’m a full time reseller and there are months I’m biting my nails thinking I won’t make enough but I always do. I love the freedom working for myself gives me, my goal is to travel I’ve traveled to Cuba, Greece Egypt Italy and in October I’m going to Japan. I also travel throughout the US to thrift and find treasures to resell. I love this life.♥️ love your content I’m a new subscriber 😊

You are doing the right thing. I have been unemployed for 8 months. And the only side hustle I have is online surveys right now. I live in an area that does not have many jobs. Wish I were more creative but still struggling to see what else I can make money from. Thanks for sharing how you make money.

Mohuya, thank you so much for getting this personal! I do agree that as desi women or desi in general we like to keep our personal achievements to ourselves because we were brought up like that. But it's so refreshing and helpful to have such videos for pure motivation 😌 as a teacher in nyc we barely make any money lol continue doing what you're because you're absolutely fabulous in this! I also got around to listening to your podcasts and I'm in love !! I wish you all the luck and support ❤️ I'll definitely be checking out your collections and more that's going to come our way 💕

yes, we were always taught to be so secretive and competitive!! and then if we do share, it's seen as bragging or too much! we can't ever win. the pay for teachers is not the best, unfortunately. considering how much they do!!! thank you so much for your support ❤️

@@mohuyakhan yea don't feel bad about not having a traditional career because teachers making 5k a month takes them few years in the job so the grass isn't always greener on the other side 🤷♀️ you just keep doing what you're doing rn cause you're killing it!!

“that sounds like a crazy amount, but you have to remember that needs to cover all the other months you don’t make as much” absolutely. many people would try to say I must make so much money as a wedding photographer for 10 years, but it wasn’t that I made SO much money, it’s that I was paid in large sums sporadically throughout the year. $5k a wedding sounds great until you realize that you only work 30 weddings a year, have to give 30% to taxes, 20% to expenses, 30% to the cost of living. That only leaves 20% for anything that isn’t a necessity and all of that still needs to last throughout the dry season for the industry (~4-5mo of the year). no work is easy, either you compromise your time (working 9-5) for stable pay or you compromise your sanity (working sporadically) for more freedom to do what you want as an entrepreneur. no one career is perfect, just choose the one that works for you and actually work at it.

Hey, love your videos, honestly you're such an inspiration - I'm based in Manchester, UK and I've just graduated I'm thinking of running a small business like you. I've gotten started but I'm not sure how to best approach making a livelihood through selling art/running workshops. If you could start again what you do to best build your business to a place where it can financially support you? I appreciate all the work you're doing in breaking South Asian stereotypes & changing the representation for us women, lots of love x

This was so transparent and the most in depth financial video I’ve seen! I relate with the insecurity with the up and down months but you just need to double down and trust the process. It’s great to see your successes bc I work with businesses like yours on their Shopify stores.

wooow!! Thank you so much for being so transparent! I would love for you to make a finance series (like more about how you budget, afford, where you spend etc.) I find it so interesting! also since you kept emphasising small businesses, that's where I spend more of my money now :)

Oh I feel sad for your masters degree because you might never use that to score a job in the teach field ever again. The teaching profession is pretty much the opposite of what you do right now as a living, it's boring, hierarchical, bureaucratic, and low pay. Once you get used to work for freedom you can't never go back to that kind of arrangement.
