I’m in the process of learning all this stuff myself and this was a super helpful overview - definitely going to watch your other videos about the build 🙌🏻

Devon congratulations! Looks like you have thought things out well. As with almost any big endeavor in life it will probably take longer than you estimate and cost more than you think. Count us in as one of you future renters. So looking forward to more video updates!!

Thank you so much! I'll be following along on your build as well. We just finished clearing the driveway, and now I'm sitting on my hands waiting for my structural firm to submit the final set of drawings, then I go in for PERMIT! :)

Absolutely loving your concept and I found you through Instagram only a couple of weeks ago I've been watching a couple out of the Southwest in Texas life uncontained and watching these two for the last three and a half years or so has been so rewarding and fulfilling wanting to go on that same venture that you and them are going through I think would be ideal to share that experience that they've had in their builds and what they've done and all the little hoops and hurdles that they've run through

Definitely the most expensive investment I've ever made but I have a good grasp on construction so hopefully I can stay in budget. Power is gonna be about $25k.

Can you share more about the research process? Who is the target market? People looking to escape the city for a weekend getaway? How do you determine how much to spend and what your requirements for the property are? Are there any useful market research tools that you can share? Are you concerned about future restrictions on Airbnb rentals? So many questions.
@devonloerop3 жыл бұрын
I love all of these questions and these are great video Ideas, so I'm actually a full time filmmaker and engineer and my busy season is winding down so I'll finally be able to make videos answering all of your questions. I'm just finishing gathering all of the documents I need to for in for permit so I'll be able to be very detailed in the preconstruction costs.

Amazing dude. I want to do this very badly. What is your overall idea with investing in Sultan? How did you decide where to build/buy something?
@devonloerop3 жыл бұрын
Honestly I think sultan is a great little town and has a ton of growth potential as Seattle expands. It will also be super valuable to have a home on a little more acreage too
@devonloerop3 жыл бұрын
It's been quite a bit of research, I ideally wanted to be a little bit further into the mountains but after researching a ton I found that it would have been nearly impossible to build this home due to building restrictions in the mountains. There's lots of flood plains, and "critical areas" in the mountains so I figured I'd play it safe and buy a place somewhere where I know I can build. Plus sultan is 10 minutes from the cascades, an hour from Seattle, there's no chance of getting completely snowed in (people cancelling bookings due to weather), and this lot is large enough to build a DADU down the road.

its imporant to have dreams and first i thought it was supposed to be your permanent place to stay. Renting it to People is another thing. Dont get me wrong , i only wish you the best but society gets sicker and sicker by the hour. And having a project right in the forest is of course very wonderful but consider the following, forrest fires caused by nature (lightning strike) or by your guests "without brain" just smokng some whatever in the woods and giving a s*it about nature.
