I’m looking to put a 12v p pump into my wrangler but been a little hesitant about it because I’ve never done a engine swap. Watching the land cruiser come to life gets me super excited about it

That sounds rad! Yeah I had never taken on a project of this magnitude before, but I kinda figured it out as I went. Glad you’re enjoying!
@rodleypumpkins41742 күн бұрын
I’ve done a couple 12 valve swaps and man they are easy when you get through the first one.
@Patrick.Weightman2 күн бұрын
It wouldn't be super hard all things considered, and would be a pretty unique build, but I wouldn't expect it to be a necessarily great idea. 6BTs weigh around half of the entire Jeep itself, and are already front heavy in a stock configuration
@CPLBSS88Күн бұрын
Its not too bad just take it step by step, take pics and vids of connections and shit, you'll be fine 👍
@Austin_SaintOngeКүн бұрын
@ yeah just a lot of going back and forth to see if things fit. Once you know where they do it’s pretty easy!

Another thing that really helps involved and expensive projects like this are a supportive family (wife with a good job, established parents, established in-laws, etc.).

This is probably one of the most wholesome and greatest comments. Yes I’m lucky to have a wonderful wife and a great job that lets me do projects like this. As well as supportive parents/family

How did the wiring harness work go? Was is as involved or tedious as it looks?
@Mr.Engineer.4 күн бұрын
Sound like you could have bought a 1HD-T or 1HD-FTE for that price 😵 I bought a 1HD-T used in good running condition, but high mileage for just 1000 USD but I know that is a steal and don't come up often.
@Austin_SaintOnge4 күн бұрын
You found a 1hd-t for $1000?!? If I had found one at that price I would have grabbed it too! I do like being able to use plumbing parts and go to any auto parts store here in the states to get parts though
@Mr.Engineer.4 күн бұрын
@@Austin_SaintOnge Yup, I grabbed it as quickly as I could before anyone else found it for sale. I don't think the wrecker knew what he had. Still have it on my trailer as I don't know what to do with it yet, I just knew I needed it 😅 There is a HDJ100 with manual gearbox for sale for just 7200USD some hours away from me. It has some rust that needs to be welded and some other TLC needed to be done to it. I am really tempted to offer 4500 for it and see if I get it for that, but my property is already "clogged up" with non road worthy Land Cruiser's 😮💨 A valid point, here in Europe it is the opposite as I will have to look hard to find anything imperial compared to metric. Most pipe fittings are in British pipe threads though, same as many fittings on JIS engines.

I’m not sure how this works on a non vgt turbo so correct me if I’m wrong but removing the silencer ring can cause some issue like surging. I did it on a Cummins and ended up buying a new turbo.
@Austin_SaintOnge2 күн бұрын
I haven’t had any surging as of yet, lots of my buddies take them off as well. My watergate is also welded shut 😂
@rodleypumpkins41742 күн бұрын
@ wonder if I did something wrong. I did it on a 2012 6.7 Cummins and it surged when I got on it made my exhaust brake act weird.

great work on the rig, Where did you get the exhaust from ?

Great video. I’m still having loads of trouble communicating with Dustin. He’s absolutely terrible at responding. I’m literally trying to send him money for stuff and he still won’t get back to me. :/
@Austin_SaintOnge5 күн бұрын
He’s just really busy but should get back to you soon! I’ll drop him a line
@kleinbiker15 күн бұрын
@ sure I can understand that but I assume he’s in business to sell things I don’t understand how you can be too busy to actually sell the items. 🤷♂️ Years ago there was a guy out that direction who made complete Cummins swap kits who started becoming notorious for taking money for the kits and then not sending the whole kit and was also very unresponsive. Allmaras (sp) machine I think was the companies name I believe and the name Dustin rings a bell. I hope he’s not the same guy.

Just 10 seconds in assuming you spent at least 20 grand. People think these are cheap swaps and they are not.

That’s really what it costs just in parts if you want it done really clean. They are pretty frickin expensive

Imagine swapping a shit American engine in. Madness.
@breaker326922 сағат бұрын
Imagine not knowing anything about engines or cars like yourself. Because if you knew anything. There’s not many companies that make a better diesel than Cummins if any at all. Especially Toyota
@Bouzoukiellas8 сағат бұрын
@@breaker3269he’s an idiot. Literally doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Probably rolls up the cuffs on his skinny jeans and wears a turtleneck.
@johnnygeorgopoulos40726 сағат бұрын
@@breaker3269 while I'm definitely in agreement with you and think the above commenter is nuts for talking 💩 about a Cummins and clearly has no clue what he's talking about, I have to be fair and also say Toyota does also make some great engines, including diesels.... same with Mercedes, like their OM648.... pretty much the 2JZ of the diesel world (some key upgrades, and they make fantastic power and will literally scream and sound exactly like 2JZ's once spooled and on song 😅)
