This question will never get wrong answer. If my lifestyle only needs $3K, then I think $4K is good enough. However if my lifestyle needs $20k per month to upkeep then what is enough for me maybe 10 times more than you.

150k is honestly reasonable especially with the current cost of living.

Sg need $8k to be comfortable as a single, $20k to be comfortable for married life with kids. Think about housing, cars etc.

U r kidding me lol 3k take home as single happy alrdy. Those who need more, probably have bad spending habits and have low svings /investments

@xfall86 “comfortable” is very subjective I guess

Comfortable 4000 to 5000, me as fresh graduate can't even get 3000 for admin jobs. Have to take up odd jobs like Auxiliary Police or Port worker to try to get at least 3000 a month. How to live like that?

doesn’t mean you fresh grad then you are entitled to a certain pay right? from the company’s perspective, they pay you what the job is worth in the market, no?

@@Sethisfy No I went to PSB Academy. I didn't had the money to pay for my degree. My results were excellent. So now I am just doing odd jobs to save money for my degree. 21,000 + for course fee alone. Will be taking oversea Uni also. Probably a UK University.

@@jj-wj7gc Did I imply in anyway that I am entitled to any pay? I simply said that most people mentioned 4000 to 5000 to be comfortable in Singapore. Which I do agree. And I understand from the company's perspective that they have to keep overhead count low to maximise profit. But like I mentioned in my reply, my degree cost 21,000 SGD. And I only have a short runway. So personally I don't have the time to take low pay jobs and prove my worth to the company. Maybe other people do, but I don't. I have to get my degree in the stipulated time frame I planned. Beside, even though I can look at things from a company perspective, I also look at things from my own perspective. A job should benefit me. Not me benefit the job. I couldn't care less about the older generation attitude to work. If you want a loyal employee hire a dog. Me, I only look at money in work. How much your job worth, is how much money you offer for that job. If you want cheap labour, go and hire foreigners who are better suited to low pay in Singapore but high pay in their home country. Beside did you know that in Singapore, even if you don't have a job, you won't die? Benefits of working as APO is that I get to see agencies like MSF Social Service Office. A lot of able bodied people come get finical assistance there simply because they can't hold down a job. So if no job also don't need worry lah, just go SSO, confirm they will support you. But I just want to make my message clear to you, I couldn't care less about the company's perspective. I work for money and if you are not offering the money I want, I won't stay. Simple as that. APO pay drop to a level I don't like, I quit. Simple as that.

My person opinion is that employers lowball private degree holders quite a bit. What I found useful was to explore alternate form of incomes. Based on what I hear from others too is that first job is just that - your start to the rest of your career. Many climb quite well and earn quite comfortably when they are more established in their jobs. Good luck on your overseas pursuits!
