Thanks for a very interesting video. We eat almost the same things here in Sweden at our New Year (at Christmas we eat pork, pickled herring and rice pudding). As 10 rubles currently is worth 1 Swedish Krona (kr) right now, it's easy to compare the prices. So I stopped at Globus Swedish counterpart, ICA Maxi, to look our Swedish prices up, for comparison to your prices. In total, Butter, Red caviar and Salmon are cheaper in Sweden. Cucumber, Tomatoes, Tangerines and Olives costs about the same in my store as in yours. Everything else is more expensive here. Our salaries are quite a bit higher in Sweden than in Russia, though, especially among older people and students. Here are the Swedish prizes in SEK (kr), add a "0" to get the price in ruble, and add a decimal to get the price in dollars. Crab, prawn and cooked vegatables salad) 129 kr/kg Beef jelly/Aladåb 99 kr/kg Salmon smoked 239 kr/kg Sausage 21 kr per pack, 63 kr Cheese 34 kr per pack Tartaletter (buisquits to fill) 20kr Butter, 500 gram, 45 kr/pack Red caviar, 90 gram 39 kr/pack, 117 kr/3 cans Salmon, 189 kr/kg Other fish, 189 kr/kg Chicken whole, good, 79 kr/kg Cicken, whole, cheap (filled with water), 49 kr/kg Potatoes, 9 kr/kg Cucumbers, 54 kr/kg Tomatoes, cherry, 38 kr/kg Tangerines, Spain, 39 kr/kg Tangerines, Morocco, 29 kr/kg Grapes, Italy, 29 kr/kg Apples, red, Italy, 25 kr/kg Bananas, Costa Rica, 19 kr/kg Bread, sötlev, (lev), 25 kr/bag Bread, baugette (small) 10kr Bread, baugette (long) 15 kr Cake (big 8-12 pieces), 220 kr Black tea, big pack, 49 kr Olives, green, spanish, 16 kr/can Olives black, spanish, 16 kr/can Mineral water, Slovenia, 19 kr/bottle Juice 1 lit, 18 kr/pack Thanks again for a great youtube channel. Thank you for this Globas shopping trip for the holiday feast! I really think Alex would look good in the reindeer with sunglasses shirt as compensation for not getting any sweets. 🍬🍫🍙🍪🍩🍰 Our dinner is far from what you have other than olives and cheese. We have lots of sliced ham sausage, pickles, prawns and hot pastry appetizers. There is usually basted ham with pineapple slices and brown sugar glaze, turkey with stuffing and gravy with cranberry sauce on the side, and often a beef roast infused inside with garlic cloves. There is always corn niblets, carrots and peas, mashed potatoes with butter and sour cream, pickled beets, pickled baby onions, and dinner rolls. My nephew also serves us very fine red and white wines for us to toast to all our loved ones who have passed and whom we miss terribly 🍷❤🩹💔❤🩹 And always tiny cabbage rolls and pirogi and I bring my wild rice/broccoli/cheese casserole and barley cooked In chicken broth and carrot and onion diced fine. About 18 years ago, the first time I brought it no one liked them except my Mom. Now, I am required to bring them, and I just finished ordering my groceries online to get ready for the 25th. The desserts are shortbread, gingerbread, one or two pies, butter tarts, Krusty with icing sugar (my personal favourite), and loads of other stuff. It’s really too much and crazy 🤪 We all have to bring portable hot plates and an extra counter convection oven to fit everything in to keep warm. Then we each have containers filled to take home to eat for the next week! But I really do look forward to the family being together. We have had no snow, lots of rain, and it has been between 6-9C the last week where we live at sea level. Very rarely we have snow at this time, and if we do, the traffic slows to a standstill and it melts pretty quickly. Not a lot of people know how to drive in it, It was very different when I was a child. We had 4 very distinct seasons and could ice skate outdoors on city lakes and for miles through the huge water canals surrounding the cranberry fields 15 minutes drive away. Not anymore. The city has 3 ski mountains to the north side for skiing and they’re close enough to see them topped with snow from our windows. So you could literally work your day job, change clothes and go night skiing, or go out on a boat and enjoy seeing the snow and Christmas lights from below! So sorry for rambling. I guess I was feeling very nostalgic tonight. I do hope that this finds you and your family healthy and happy. I hope soon we will all be able to communicate more openly and enjoy the season with peace and joy all together 🌟 May you and Alex feel bliss this wonderful time of the year. 🙋🏼♀🇨🇦🌲 Sending warmest wishes and HAPPY HOLIDAYS ❣🥳🎄🍫🍷 🎄🍷🥳🌟🍰🍫😉🧣🐶🐱Grizzly⛷🎁🎉🪩📯💌💚💝🌠🎿⛸🍾🧃🍪🧁❤🪆

Valeria and Alex I loved this episode going shopping with you both for your Christmas celebration food. Writing the prices down as you bought them. I totally agree with you Valeria bananas have gone up in price but everything we are buying at the store has tripled in the past few years. The containers get smaller and we pay more in USA . I thought your prices were very good. Your salad prices are lower. It was fascinating to go along with you both I really did enjoy it. Thank you for your time Valerie & Alex. Take care driving home. Thank you Valeria and Alex for such a wonderful video. Enjoyed it very much. I think the amount that y'all calculated for your New Year celebration with your family is absolutely doable. I mean in reality you only celebrate these holidays once a year so with saving up a little bit here in a little bit there it's definitely doable. Prices here in the United States are ridiculously expensive and if we were to try and purchase what you purchased over here it would be ridiculous expensive . I'm saying more and more videos on apartments and costs of living and groceries over there in Russia and the more I watch them the more I'm realizing that living in Russia is very doable and it looks like such a beautiful place

Where I live I raise chicken, ducks, turkeys and rabbits to eat. Many people raise animals to preserve for winter. Do Russian people ever raise meat or eggs at their dacha for use during the winter? You can preserve eggs for winter too. When I see dachas I have only seen vegetables for preserving and wonder if anyone grows meat. Thank you for a nice video.
@junglesuperstar9270Ай бұрын
You need remember that dachas are for relaxations. Technically there are laws what you can do or not go on dachas . Surely raising a cow or having tons of chickens are not allowed
@JenniOlsen-t1rАй бұрын
Thanks for the information. You wouldn’t have to have a ton of chickens to put a few in the freezer but maybe culturally the dacha is not generally common to do that.

Watching your videos, I think definitelly Christmas gatherings are expensive everywhere. My family always share the money. I'm the one that usually order the food and we split he cost between 3 houses, us, my nephew and my sister. Sometimes, we coordinate as well, what each is going to bring, depending on the occasion. The best part is share everything happily. Merry Christmas!

Very interesting video. Overall the prices of food are much lower in Russia, but one must factor in the average salary of a worker, so in reality the prices are a bit higher in Russia for the food! What you bought would cost around 250$ Canadian without alcohol. The average pensioner gets around 950$ per month, so that's a huge amount to spend on food. The alcohol would cost about an extra 50$. Thank you for this video.

Thank you Valeria. I find when you and Alex shop together you are both so cute. In the US, where we live, food is higher in cost than Russia. I wanted to ask you if the food manufacturers are required to list the ingredients in their products they sell? Our country requires it but during the Plandemic they changed the requirement so anything can be used in your food and the companies aren’t required to list on their product all ingredients. The stores in Russia are huge, clean, well stocked with product to sell. Thank you for taking us shopping with you; so enjoyable to watch your videos on Russian culture.
