This guy is really trying to sell us on the idea that X is going to fail. Makes me feel like he must be shorting them, with potential to make some real gains from their fall. Interesting things he seemed to ignore are that X still has a free tier, X has a more established audience than its competitors, and X is actively working on improvements. Their biggest struggle might be brand and reputation (which certainly has an effect on advertisers), but in terms of its core function, which is sharing and consuming content, it’s still provides a good service. Even better if you curate your own feeds with their Lists feature. There’s been no exodus of content creators, and great content continues to flow there. But according to this guy, the paid service kills it all? I’ve got no dog in this fight, but I can’t help feeling like this guest does. I’m glad he’s putting his opinion out there with his own face. It’ll create a good track record for him when we see how things shake out.
