Yes you can make money if you can find scrap. Can you make a living absolutely not. Scrap is a side hustle not a main hustle. Scrap dries up and it can be hard to find cars and people willing to part with them. I’ve knocked on doors of folks who have 6 cars rusting in the woods and offer to haul them off free of charge and they don’t want them touched. Also look at cars if you come back for them. For example: I was out and seen a guy had a Ford explorer sitting on the side of his drive weeds grown all around it so I stopped and asked if he would be wanted it hauled off and he was like yeah that be great. So I checked the car out and it had all the cats, wheels looked good, so I told him I’d come back the next day and pick it up. So I get there, hook to it, loaded it, and took it down the road. I get out with my sawzall to cut the cat off and it was gone. The guy robbed it off so that was money lost that I factored in. I still made money because it was free but sometimes we pay a little for them and that could of been bad.

In NM you can’t scrap a vehicle without the title. You can cut them up and scrap them but you have to figure your time in that endeavor also.

I work on cars on the side. Over time, I collected 5 bad cats after installing good ones and I had two junk cars. One Ford minivan the trans went so I paid $300 for that. And a 99 Jetta I purchased for parts. Local scrap yard only offered me $75 per cat. I got them for free after being paid to take them off so I did not care. The guys who buy junk cars offered me $450 each for the minivan and Jetta as long as both vehicle had factory cats which they did. I also had a 04 civic with a bad engine and ebay cat. No one wanted it. So I kept the nice aftermarket radio, battery and floor mats. Sold the wheels for $200. Sold the body with 4 mixed match wheels for $200. So you are correct. The littke guy cannot survive on scrapping. It is just extra money at the end of month.

you left nothing but??’s in this video. i’ll feel i need to respectfully apprise you a bit. now you must assume that if someone clicked on this they know nothing. and because of your deflection they walked away with nothing. your not protecting trade secrets ffs .if you are now doing it you are miles ahead of any one looking to do this work. and if you are trying to protect your market disclosure will deture competition more than deflection that said . of said process! so by saying full break down is incorrect. so if any one wanted to enter this game as you called it they would first need the money for the truck and the trailer, tools . outlay for the cars and( very few people give it away)a 2nd or 3rd shift job. scrap yards are usually open 8a-5p and sat till maybe noon. this alone in the last paragraph will stop most people looking forward.so say it or don’t say it. beating the bush makes you sound like the ( i’m not negotiating i know what i have guy) . ball busting aside i’m sure you’re a good dude and you probably mean well with this post. but give a full spectrum of money needed , equipment, time. and knowledge needed. fluctuations in the market (daily i might add) these are points i feel you should have touched on. p.s i’m not hating on you or trolling you but left alot out and if you do not delete this comment. people can use this as a good list of research ideas.

During my travels at my job. I work for the city as a housing inspector. I see and hand out notices for cars that are either junked, not register or abandoned. I befriended a scrap/towing guy in that city. Im constantly sending addresses with pics about cars that need to be junked. I get nothing financially out of it but it helps to keep the city clean and he makes his money. By the way I'm the only person who thinks like that. Most city employees are assholes drunk with power
