After 7.5 years...finally made it to koh Chang last month! And I will be back! :) Thanks for sharing....Too funny...just realized we took off on our scuba diving trips right next to The Magic resort. Walking in the water right in front of where to eat your breakfast

Spent 10 days at Magic Resort last July 2019, cost was approx 6k baht including a great breakfast. Highly recommend if you aren't the type to want 5 or 6 star rooms with pool (swimming in the ocean is far better) gym (who uses them walking is better) Our bungalow was 20 meters from the beach & quiet. I'd stay there again.

A nice resort type of place was Emerald Cove my wife and I both liked it there. Not an economy place, not to high priced either. Her favorite food place was at the Ramayana. Ramayana has a small parking area with a building close to it "Kantaree Kitchen". We eat while we stayed there and went back 2 other times she liked the food and the price so much. No beach with Ramayana though, they have a van that takes you to the beach though. Have fun :-).

Kho Chang is my favourite beach area. I always stay in White Sands area because of the selection of restaurants and especially the night market where sometimes I buy food from and eat in my hotel room. Hotel varies from 1200 bt to 1900 bt per night depending on the season. I usually hire a motorscooter for 2 days of the trip to do the West side and the East side of the island.

Some day we will go to Koh Chang. For now, it seems we can only visit Thailand. Can’t get retirement extension anymore as we had OA starting five years ago. Now that my husband is over 76 he can no longer obtain Thai insurance coverage. Sad to leave but we will either settle in Vietnam or Mexico. We will miss our life in Thailand. Leaving for Vietnam next week to explore.
@notime2bsad5 жыл бұрын
You would be the first person that I have heard that wasn't able to get there Visa extended in Thailand due to insurance. So far people that are already here haven't been asked to prove it. It's only been two people getting their initial OA Visa coming into Thailand. What province do you live in where they would not extend your Visa
@AJ-zz3qm5 жыл бұрын
notime2bsad We have lived in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan for four years. Extened without fail every year on time, never late for 90 day, did all our TM 30 check ins for our landlord when we returned from outside the country. My husband has been bringing in the 65k plus every month to his Thai bank account and I had the 800k in my account.

Hi,Chuck and page, a question for page, we love Bangkok and Krabi, should I swap Krabi for koh chang, we are travelling from the uk in April ,May ,but we love clear beaches and snorkeling
@danielpoliti315 жыл бұрын
I was in Krabi 2 years ago. It was nice we went to the big morning market for wake up food. We went from Krabi to Koh Yoa Noi, it was a very nice little island. Stayed at Sabai Corner, nice place. Also liked to eat just up the road at Villa Laguna Restaurant. But Koh Chaing is nice as well, but since they can take cars it can get more crowded.

There are mosquitoes everywhere in Thailand. However being on an island or close to the beach there is a lot of wind. Which is really the only deterrent for mosquitoes in Thailand.

BTW. Pro-tip for those that don't know, just drive your own/rented car across the ferry and skip the hassle of dealing with Pirate song tao drivers. Especially on check out day, in the rain, with a pissed off Thai GF, and a hangover, the last thing you want to be doing is standing on the side of the road trying hail a song tao who wants to charge you 300Thb to the ferry and makes 40 stops on the way. F*** that! Also I always rent a moto (200-300 Thb/day )for exploring the Island and never had an issue but I've been on bikes my whole life and NEVER drink and drive.
