Thank you for all this information, how about mega doses of niacin to fight schizophrenia? Abram Hoffer wrote many books about that subject, but it still remains controversal?

I just took my normal dose of 500mg, 1 capsule, niacin. I don't take it frequently, but Normally, as long as I eat, I tolerate it with a short session of discomfort. Today I had such an intolerant and scary reaction I swore to never take it again. I was shaking with muscle twitching and cold chills like when described when people are coming off of street drugs. It caused stomach upset and a headache. My jaw was locking. It lasted too long. My teeth were chattering and I had trouble controlling my hands, and even walking. It was scary. If I take it again I will go with a much lower dose. Not sure why this time was so extremely different. It was awful. I may never touch it again. I did eat And was relaxed at home. Crazy!

15:40 "fatty liver on niacin" A very important note on niacin b3 (nicotinic acid) is that it increases blood glucose if you take it together with food especially carbs or sugars and if you take it on an empty stomach it can potentially lower blood glucose further, to such a degree that you will feel dizzy. I would not recommend people who are obese, to take niacin unless they are on a low carb diet and active after taking niacin, eg going for a long walk (4000 steps or more).

It’s better to take a Bcomplex that has all the B vitamins? The one I have has : b1,b6 and b12. But also has magnesium and zinc. I think, I will get another bcomplex that has all the b vitamins.

I am flushing 2 times per day with 500mg and more for than 12 years now. It helps my allergy via moving histamin around when it gets "stuck". Might it be possible that forcing mastcells to a regular release that it triggers the need for constant releases and possible larger storage volume of histamine? (therefore an artificially created dependence on niacin flushes?)

I took a 500mg niacin and I ended up in the ER at hospital! I was shaking uncontrollabely! It scared me so I never took it again! I used to take niacin before I just don't know if it was a bad batch. I am really afraid to take it again.

@@NansGlobalKitchen I witnessed that once in a friend of mine on a minor scale. Might be due to rapid lowering histamin levels in the cns and the simultan rise in dopamine, serotonin and co. A rapid shift of electrolytes through certain histamin channel openings might also be possible. That doesn't mean it will happen again but I surely can understand when people avoid it after such an experience.

When I first took niacin, I itched so badly that my skin was peeling off and my wrists stole up. Now I take 500mg x2 per day and love it.

I’m Australian we eat Vegemite everyday from 9 days old to death. Vegemite is so full of B Vitamins it can only be sold in glass jars, it breaks out of plastic ones and escapes.
