I really enjoyed this podcast. I have been a huge fan of Steven L. Hardin for at least 20+ years. I have most of his books. I’m also a fan of Lt. Col. Alan C. Huffines. I was in the Texas Army National Guard the same time as he was.

I did like this program. I have quite a number of books about the Alamo, 250 probably more than that.I have read the all, many of them more than once. I was well pleased with the way this was presented.

There are other historians out there that don't believe Crockett was executed, but in deed died in the battle. And that is based on many of the accounts given by the survivors, Enrique Esparza, Joe the slave, Sussanna Dickinson, and a few others.

I'm really enjoying these podcasts! I myself have been doing a lot of research on the Alamo and Davy Crockett, so I find this to be be pretty awesome. I've heard your podcast with Michael Wallis, but you should try to have Bill Groneman on your show, he is also an expert on Crockett and the Alamo, but has a different perspective when it comes to how Crockett died.

In the movie, Crockett takes a shot at Santa Anna and misses, blaming the wind. Did He really get a shot off a Santa Anna, and what would have changed had his shot killed him? The Disney movie had a similar scene.

37:30 it's uncomfortable but glad they covered the controversy when crocket / thorton says "i'm a screamer" and he's on his knees about to be executed. The phrase he uses has a different context today which was very odd to audiences. but in 1800s it meant an influential person. they should not have done the scene that way, and the interview subject indeed admits it

Absolutely true. Who wrote this screenplay? They should be tied to a bush in Terlingua. In June! Without a hat.
