What is happening in your cleaning business right now that brought you to this video about pricing today?

In biz for 13 years. I kind of feel I'm all over the place. Some people say I'm expensive say some say I'm not expensive, but at the end of thirteen years I'm finally filing chapter 13 bankruptcy. It could be because I'm in a 2500 square foot brick home on 5 acres of land, and I inquired this home through another business almost 20 years ago.. but I think I've been doing some things right. I've gotten everything I absolutely need with my credit cards to run my business, so in a sense I'm starting from scratch again with alot of knowledge and equipment I need and I hope I'll be able to make six figures now.. I sure could use an hour or two of private counseling but I can't afford it LOL.. so I'll just get what I can get through KZbin and all these different channels of cleaning.. sorry so long, but I'm glad you asked the question😊

I’m horrible at raising my prices on customers I’ve had for a long time. I’m very good at cleaning and making people very happy with me and my work but even though I’m making an average of 50 or 60$ an hour I know I can make more money. I don’t really want to hire people because no one wants to work this hard for 20$ an hour so turn over happens in that scenario. I’m thinking of starting a dog poop scooping business on the side. With crime up in my area I’m also into breeding imported Rottweilers. I’m not ever a lazy person!

That's a great question that has been answered! A lot of starters are having a hard time pricing their services correctly. As they transition to becoming a full cleaning business, it will also increase as professional cleaning will surely need equipment, resources to do the job. Aside from this helpful tip, I also would like to advice starters to do these: -Take hiring process seriously -Target business districts if you're into commercial cleaning

Hello, I have a question: I have a customer whom I told that it takes 4 hours to clean his office (if one person goes alone). Sometimes I go with 2 people and we finish in 2 hours. Should I then charge for 2 or 4 hours? Or should I just charge for the actual time it took, whether it was 2 or 4 hours?

Hey there! We sent your question to Sharon Cowan and this is her response: "This is a common mistake that occurs. The answer is that you must always calculate in labor hours to do the job. Not clock hours. In other word how many working hours does it take to do the job. If it takes one person 4 labor hours and 2 people 2 hours you are still paying 4 labor hours. You must count the individual hours each person works. If you used 4 people and they worked only one clock hour you are still using 4 labor hours and much charge for each one. What happens when you add more people is that the clock hours are reduced but not the labor hours to get the job done. And by the way…we never give the customer an estimate of time. That is your business information and not to be shared. If they ask tell them you are unsure but can give them a ball park. You should be giving your customer a flat monthly rate and frankly its none of their business how long you are there. You may send a really fast cleaner and when that happens you don’t charge less. So be careful about EVER reducing your price and make sure your calculations are correct. 2 people X 2 hours = 4 hours of labor. Hope that helps."

@@ZenMaid thank you very much for your answer, it was really helpful. I kept being stressed out about it because I did not know how to deal with it. The customer is a very nice person and I did not want to to something as if I have something to hide from him. But with that explanation it would be not th case. Thank you again and I wish you all success in this business!
