I love seeing how others quote pricing. 50 to pull the dead tree yet 40 to trim that hedge. I know your kind of just showing stuff but I would not touch that hedge for under 90 but then I would pull the tree for like 40. I do need to raise my mulch pricing tho. Listening to customers is key.
@keith-kalfas8 ай бұрын
No, you're right.That hedge alone should be ninety dollars. I guess my point is that sometimes I don't like the man.I will rate because you can screw yourself over by undercharging. That's why it was hard for me to communicate.The difference between a man hour rate and itemize pricing.

Couple things I noticed. You missed out on replacing the dead arb you pulled. That’s another couple hundred dollars probably. Play back the video to 5:32. You almost played in the mulch where the dog whizzed😂😂😂. Pro tip, before installing any type of edging whether it’s cobra or aluminum, drill holes about every 6-8’. After installation, drive 12” log spikes horizontally into the turf from the inside. This prevents the edging from heaving up due to the freezing and thawing you mention. I’ve been doing this for many years with great success. Have a great summer Keith. You’re a true gem for the industry. Ty🌳🌳🌳😃

I am charging by the hour and completely screwing myself. Have you ever posted a breakdown of an estimate or quote to show clients? I just bought a dump trailer this year and can't figure out how to charge for it. Currently have 2 trucks I run

Can you make a video on how to figure out your rate. How would I calculate overhead for my business and what goes into it?

This year I’m slowly averaging my spring cleanups to 700$ a day I’m on my 2nd year legit 5th year in landscaping. I also itemize all my services and in the quotes I go into detail so the clients know exactly what they’ll get. I almost know that that alone is what separates me from other landscapers . Some people tell me that I’m a little expensive but they love the communication. However i do need to raise my mulch prices. Mulch is easy but neatly and correctly spreading it is really time consuming . Thanks Keith

Keith Ive been following along a while. You charge per yard installed on mulch. I think its great to standardize for ease of quoting a lot of jobs. The only thing is wheelbarrowing distance varies job to job. Do you or anyone else who prices mulch in this way have any thoughts?

If you have a lot of extra mulch you just throw it away? Wouldn't it be better to get bagged mulch and store it somewhere for future jobs?

Bag mulch is awful. I only use bags if I have a small job or the terrain is rough.

@@codynickel9650 If I needed 8-10 bags of mulch for a job I would use them as opposed to getting bulk mulch. Sometimes the terrain makes it hard to get bulk mulch to an area, but if you use bags you can be a bit more efficient.

I love watching these videos and I also follow several other companies like Brian’s, Blades of Grass, etc. none of these quotes would work in the south south…like Houston. I’ve noticed there’s never a KZbinr down here cuz there’s too much competition to be able to quote these exorbitant prices. There’s a lawn care company every corner. Yeah, sure, there are large companies that can do this, but this won’t happen down here.

Charging by the man hours still doesn't make much sense to me. Because there are a lot of jobs that we can get done very fast... and in the long run; You would end up under charging the customer for the job. That's why I have trouble trying to explain how to price things.
