I personally would err on the side of overpaying. This is a human being who is giving you their time, energy, their physical body and labor, their health, that's very valuable. I'm currently working for a company cleaning offices at night, I work like a dog long hours and still can't pay all my bills, have no time to clean my own house, spend time with my kid,.run errands, eat healthy meals, basically can't live my life anymore. A human life is valuable, pay accordingly.

I second being self employed. Most companies won't pay employees more than 15 an HR. If you are self employed you make your own hours and people will pay 20 or more an HR.

You also need to consider the jobs they are going to clean - what are you charging to clean the space? How many hours do you plan on it taking? You then have to consider what the hourly cost is to have an employee: taxes, social security deductions, etc. + what profit do you want/need to make hourly and then deduct that sum from what you're charging for the job. The remainder is the absolute maximum you can pay an employee. -- Plus, you might want to start the employee at a bit lower price so that you can give a raise in 60 or 90 days, after they have completed their training and any probationary time.

My employer pays me by the hour and I have a set schedule with the same clients. Unfortunately, I have become more efficient over the years and am shorting myself on jobs that were quoted by the hour. I consistently finish a half hour to an hour earlier. I wish my employer would have quoted a flat fee. Instead, I have to decide whether to "milk the clock" by deliberately slowing way down, do "bonus work" to fill in the time, or just finish earlier and get paid less. It stinks that the reward for being better at my job is that I get paid less for doing more.
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 7 ай бұрын
It's indeed a challenging situation when increased efficiency doesn't align with the hourly pay structure. Perhaps, discussing the possibility of transitioning to a flat fee or exploring performance incentives with your employer could be helpful, as it will recognize your improved efficiency and ensure fair compensation for your efforts

I'm afraid to make cleaning business, because I'm not sure that someone can do their job good. How can check it? At the moment I'm working solo. Many people said me that I'm asking to much money charge for hour. I'm asking £15. I saw cleaning companies in our town, they are asking £25 per hour. Some people have cleaners, and they pay £12. In cleaning vacancies usually offer £10.

I have a question for you Angela. When I owned my deli I knew that if something cost me a dollar to make I had to charge 3 dollars for that item. It's just restaurant 101 pricing. So my question is are there ratios like that in the cleaning industry? Just good tried and tested formulas that work.
@AskAngelaBrown

There's not exact ratio. But you have to price it oiut to include cost of supplies, staff if you have any, overhead costs...etc.

What is the Average hour for house cleaning? I’m with a new company just started and I have great reviews - have over 50 jobs done- yet I’m charging in San Francisco min wage is the highest hourly wages - I charge 23hr with 25hr per client- I am ok with my starting rate with the fact I just started on a 1099 independent app-am I charging to less - please help me ?
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown Жыл бұрын
Hi Regina, for the San Francisco area your starting rate will be approximately $55 per hour, per person for cleaning. The East and West Coast areas with higher living expenses charge more than inner America where housing is more affordable and living expenses are lower.

Hi Namatende, I'm so sorry. Helping people find cleaning jobs is not really my specialty. I help people start their own cleaning companies and grow the businesses they have. My suggestion would be to find a company in your area that serves the clients you want to work for. And then approach the owner and ask if you can work for them. And it has to be a good fit. You have to like and trust them and they need to like and trust you. Keep me posted. I'm here rooting for you. :-)

I have a question that's bothering me when it comes to hiring a full-time employee. If I have a full-time employee, and I don't have a client during a certain hours, would the employee just sit down and get paid, or do I send them home unpaid? Also, what if I have one client from 10 am to 1 pm, and another client from 3 pm to 6 pm, so how would I pay the employee if there is no job from 1 pm to 3 pm? Please help. These are the kind of questions hindering me from starting a cleaning business. Thanks!

Hi Muse, scheduling is one of the keys to running a successful cleaning business. Yes, you pay employees for time on the clock and time worked - which is why cleaning homes in the same geographical location is paramount. And if you don't have a job for them but they are on the clock - do you have other work they can do? Special projects (defrosting freezers, cleaning ovens, washing baseboards and window sills, deep cleaning etc.) Also, is it possible for you to hire part time, rather than full time as you scale your business?
@museramos5613
@museramos5613 2 жыл бұрын
@@AskAngelaBrown thank you so much for your reply. I really appreciate it. When you say scheduling, do you mean calling employees or assigning jobs only the days I have a client? I actually just purchased your Amazon book too. I will start reading it tonight. I will implement your recommendation once I start working. Thanks again. Have a blessed day ❤️

I get paid 21.66 per house 5-6 days a week. We usually clean 5-6 houses a day. I just started driving too almost everyday and wanted to get paid for driving but my boss wanted to stop paying an extra 15 dollars a day when I'm I drive. What do I do? I live in California and everything is so expensive I am not sure what to do and I work so hard everyday. Any ideas?
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 11 ай бұрын
$21.66 per house or $21.66 per hour? And if you are doing 5-6 houses a day, it seems that you are in the same geographic neighborhood, so there shouldn't be much driving. It also sounds like you may be part of a team. If you don't drive, who does? Tell me more, I'm missing something.

Included in the money you earn you pay for your website, internet service, cellphone, marketing, cleaning supplies, insurance, vehicle expense, taxes, cleaning equipment and more. Let him know the costs of doing business. And remember that you are the business owner and you decide what to pay your employees. Your employees don't decide for you. It's not a negotiation.

In my country, the wages in the cleaning industry are a joke, rather an outrage. As an employee, you only get a little more than the minimum wage (even if you have trained as a building cleaner), from which taxes, health insurance and social security contributions are deducted. Even with a full-time job, the net wage is so low that many are entitled to financial support from the social welfare office. Find the mistake... More and more private households are looking for cleaning ladies here, but if you look at what they offer for an hourly wage (of course, all illegal work!) And what they expect in return for a service, you can only hold your head. For a handful of breadcrumbs you should toil like a plow horse. Unfortunately, in my country cleaning workers are still very badly viewed socially.

Are you kidding me? Who else would assume that people won't show up to work "once they've made enough money" for their bills.. No other industry would assume this beside the ones who chronically under pay their workers. I love your videos but jeeze, remember that these people have goals a dreams on top of their bills. No one ever feels they've "made enough" money, everyone always wants more.
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kelly, Not kidding. I've been training cleaning companies for the better part of 30 years and I wish this were a joke. We've also found that those who get paid daily - often don't show up for work tomorrow. For this reason we pay weekly, along with pay-for-performance programs that pay extra for a job well done vs. just paying higher wages and rewarding those who are slothful.

Obviously hiring the wrong individuals because I agree with this girls comments. That’s just an excuse to pay less although I agree I’ve had coworkers like this, but I always believed they should have never got the job in the first place as you could tell they looked for ways to cut corners usually.
