Learning to drive without assists was the best thing I've done in an F1 game. Not because it has improved my performance, but the level of fun and satisfaction I get from it beats anything assists could offer. And I've never even tried any of the assists at all. It took me 50 hours to learn, but man once I could pull a whole race, or even a whole lap without spinning, then I had the feeling I learnt a new skill.

I turned off everything a few days ago. Switching to manual shifting was definitly the best change because my Williams in Career Mode without TC and auto shifting on mediums or hards is so unstable to drive and the slightest mistake spins you. Short shifting is just so much better to prevent spinning. The race starts are by far the weirdest thing because the auto shift stays in first gear up to like 120 KPH, while you could be already in second or third.

Could you possibly make a video on how much difference there is between wheels? How much time you lose on a logitech g29/923/920 compared to the thrustmaster or fanatec, maybe even get someone in on controller to compare grip levels out of corners. I have personally noticed a massive difference between cheap logitech wheel vs expensive fanatec. And even controller seems to have a grip advantage out of slow corners.

According to your stats the assists I use I should be around 1.4 seconds slower plus I am using a controller from the mid 2000's and I am a good 3 to 4 seconds slower. :D I honestly thought using manual gears would be quite a bit quicker than auto gears. @Lobstersarefabulouz3 жыл бұрын
I mean.. F1 cars are made to be driven without any driving aids in the first place. Makes sense that turning them on slows you down. On the opposite side are gt cars for example. They do have TC and ABS and are built to make use of them. In a GT3 car you will be slower if you fully turn off TC. Realistic sims like iRacing or ACC have settings where you can adjust TC on the fly and with 10+ strength settings. I usually have it set fairly low and once my tires start to wear i increase TC by one to counteract the loss of grip. I wish more racing games would implement settings like this. In FH for example the TC is way too strong and there is only one strength setting. But in the end ya gotta use what you feel comfortable with.
