This is what happened to me to some extent. I was sexually abused from childhood into my teens and then got sexually assaulted after the birth of my daughter at 20. I gained weight after to try and keep guys from looking at me. Then, unfortunately a genetic condition I didn't know I had started to show symptoms in my late 20's that actually prevented me from exercising. So, now that I'm better mentally, there is nothing physically I can do to lose the weight right now. I eat healthy. No processed food but there is some weight that I just can't get off without exercise. Sucks.

People in this situation need therapy along with the diet and exercise, it's an eating disorder, just like anorexia.
@mygirldarby
@mygirldarby 3 жыл бұрын
It's so true. We know anorexia is a mental illness, but for some reason many people see morbid obesity not as a mental illness, but as a moral failing. It is no different than any eating disorder though. It's one thing to gain 20 lbs after just not eating a healthy diet and being a bit lazy, but quite another to be carrying around 100+ lbs of extra weight. The former is a lifestyle factor, the latter is an eating disorder.

Parents like his, that overfeed their children to the point of obesity should have their kids taken away from them unless that child has some kind of disease like prader willi syndrome in which a person is always hungry and never feels full no matter how much they eat, but if it doesn't then there is no excuse for a child to ever become overweight better yet obese its the parents responsibility to make sure their child is healthy and is at a good weight for their height and age since the child is not old enough to fully understand the consequences they may face later on in life from being overweight or obese but the adult however is old enough to understand that fully and should know better

He was only happen when he saw the results he wanted to see and when they listened to him regardless of how much it hurt. He forgot the most important element which was what the psyche was doing to him. @@basbleupeaunoire I hope so. Poor guy. People with significant weight issues almost always gain the weight back. There was a show called The Biggest Loser, in which they pushed obese people to lose weight quickly for a competition. Years later the contestants were tested and all of them had permanently damaged metabolisms from the extreme weight loss. Some of them only burned 800 calories a day and all of them had gained all the weight back and more. Extreme weight loss is just another form of yoyo dieting and can actually make a person more obese than they would have been without the extreme diet/exercise.

Something happened to these people long before they started overeating. Something made them turn off that internal switch that told them they were incredibly uncomfortable and I can't help but feel that they really focus so much on the weight and the exercise and while those are terrific and necessary, I do wish they'd address the emotional aspect of this malady. Human beings use food to numb themselves from something - something that they are stuffing down deep inside. I wish men would become safe to cry. Soap cleans the body, but tears clean the soul. It matters. Men's feelings matter.

Point 1: Superfat people do NOT need to excercise Fitness happens in the Gym, weightloss in the kitchen! These people need to adjust their diet and lose weight through caloric deficit. Only when they hit a certain weight like below 150kg they should start to excercise..slowly!.. like 30min a day of light activity.. but even then it's just optional and NOT a necessity! Torturing them with diet change AND excercising will just overwhelm them and that leads them to fall back to old habits... and that is EXACTLY what's happening at 20:00 STOP telling people they need to excercise to start losing weight. Your resting metabolic rate is like 70% of your overall rate. Excercising at this stage makes everything only harder They say he eats 6000kcal a day. Reducing that to 2000kcal will lead to a major weightloss itself over time.

I actually really like this trainer's mentality and method of building him up mentally and emotionally. Some may see it as cruel or bullying but you have to remember that this guy has intentionally taken the easiest route possible for himself and that's what got him where he is. A lot of people solely focus on the physical and not the mental aspects of weight loss. You have to change your whole life and truly commit yourself regardless of how you feel. His trainer pushing him and calling him out and forcing him to deal with his failures, laziness and lack of discipline is what he needs. Almost like a sport, you have to go through and face adversity to find out what you're really made of.

No, what we have to do is understand what is causing it. It’s not laziness and he didn’t take the easiest route. There are physical and emotional causes to cravings and if we yell at people and criticize instead of addressing the causes, we might as well try building a house by yelling at stones. It might shame him into making changes temporarily for tv but not permanent change. If you haven’t experienced it, I would just keep your mouth shut and be grateful.

I’m from US. I gained a lot of weight after getting out of the military. I’d say I had depression and it got worse even more as a gained. As a healthcare career person I changed after my blood work showed I’m not doing too well. So I changed lifestyle. Started doing martial arts again and lifting weights. I started forcing myself to sleep better. After losing only 10 lbs most of my depression anxiety and bad lab results are mostly gone even gastric problems mostly disappeared. I lost more weight and close to where I wanna be just dieting extra to get a bit more so I can see abs again. I’m doing CrossFit now as well. You can do it. Do it slowly and the best reason to do it is for your health not just for looks. Sleep is very important. Start by drinking more water. Don’t completely change diet overnight, just fix diet slowly add better alternatives, slowly cut out junk. For exercise to something you really like. Ghose things will make diet stick. The slower the weight comes off the better. Good luck.

I've watched a few of these and I wonder when trainer Lee Campbell will start to realise that perhaps it isn't his client's will power or "disappointing behaviour" that is driving the increase in weight after the first successful weigh in, but his training approach and expectations. So many of these very large people do lose a heck of a lot of weight in the first month and then something is triggered and they gain back weight. Their bodies and minds clearly cannot handle such deprivation and they shift to binge mode. A more gentle slower approach might be better for consistent and more sustainable results. Sure, it won't make good ratings, but if someone is switching to healthier eating and increasing exercise (progressively) then what is the rush?

The way i look at it is their needs to be a shift in your behaviour. Same with any addiction, by cutting down you're still going to crave the thing you're addicted to. It's not just about losing weight but a lifestyle change. Like if you cut down to 1 takeaway a day instead of 2 you're just going to crave takeaways but if you cut it out completely you won't. Sure it will be tough whilst you go through withdrawal symptoms and eventually get to that phase where you want to relapse but if you can sustain that complete shift for a certain amount of time the cravings will go away. It's either you eat healthy or you don't. It's amazing how your body can adapt and by completely changing your behaviour you literally are changing your life. Lets say you drink coffee everyday if you cut it down to 1 cup instead of 2 you're still going to want to drink coffee. But if you go a few months without drinking any you'll find yourself not even thinking about it. Try it for yourself, completely stop something that you're addicted to and see how you feel after some time
@jenniferlloyd9574
@jenniferlloyd9574 Жыл бұрын
@@anonymoussaga8723 Lee Campbell's approach would be great if he were honing a person who already has good exercise and eating habits. Someone who is healthy and athletic who just needs to get ripped. But for people who are starting out at ground zero, it's not a good fit, imo. These individuals need therapy and exercise adjusted to their fitness level. They need to learn a lifestyle for the long haul. The main issue, for them, is the food consumption. Nobody reaches that level of obesity without eating extreme amounts of food. The food addiction is real. Lastly, they need sustainable help that lasts a year because it will take that long to get healthy.

He can't bring himself to do what he needs to do and his problem gets progressively worse. That's addiction. You don't get to this size without having a serious problem. Desserts only on special occasions like birthdays. I am not willing to give up coffee, tea or my occasional cocktail. No soda and I am trying to drink at least 80 ounces of water a day.

I think the main thing with weight loss is ensuring that your mind is not objecting your weight loss. A long lasting weight loss is achievable if you loss one thing at a time, just a small change even if it is 100 kcal a day. Don't fight your mind, or shock your body, let your change be slow enough that your mind is not telling you to relapse.

I hate that they start on exercise right away. These folks are so malnourished from eating so much junk. Why not walk and eat well for a month, then start exercise? What’s the fuel? And one month supervision and coaching for a man who is 400 lbs. overweight? Joking. Where’s the support group, people for him to call during the day to report how its going or if he needs encouragement, handing in your food diary to someone else? Overeating is a disease of isolation. You need a community

I think it is important for people to know that obesity is an illness, and that these people suffer very much and that we have to take this serious and we have to try to help our friends/family members when they suffer from that. Very often food addiction is an compensation act for a trauma. Being a good friend can help and maybe change a lot.

@Tiger Low Thank you for your question. Of course that is a difficult question but sometimes, people give up because they do not see a goal, they do not have the motivation for it. If we are being a close and good friend for them, and if we support them so that they know, that they are not alone, and that it is worth fighting, maybe that can help. For instance me; I am finally and incurably ill. I am connected to 3 maschines 24/7 and bed boud. Sometimes I would love to just stop and not continue. But I have such wonderful friends/people who are here for me, who are fighting for me. I am brave for them, because I am soo deeply thankful and humble because they are helping me so much. I am fighting for them out of gratefulness. Maybe my comment is answering your question? All the best for you.

@Tiger Low Having a food addiction is the worst addiction to have. We need to eat, so imagine being addicted to something that you have to have to live, people use food to feel better, and unless there is good therapy to get to the bottom of why someone is over eating, then they will never succeed in losing the weight, the harder part is keeping the weight off, food addictions don't go away, you have to learn to manage it and battle against it every day, its tiring for these people and to start with they are miserable and cannot turn to food anymore and they get fed up of that and decide to go back to over eating again because they don't want to fight anymore. Most people with food addiction need an entire team around them to lose weight, and some need surgery just to get the weight off, when you get to this size, surgery is typically recommended because they are at such a high risk of a heart attack. Its easy to sit back and think well don't eat too much simple and it just doesn't work that way
