I'm into drinking less now (both frequency and amount) but spending more on better quality stuff. Rather sip on a $200 bottle and really enjoy it, then hammer down 3 $65 bottles.

$150 is my max. I’d consider something at $200 but no more than that. To me there’s just so much great stuff available for less. If I spent more it would just be to satisfy my ego, not my tastebuds.

I have an unopened 15 year Willett bottled in 1992 from either Stietzel Weller or Bernheim. It has maroon wax on top. Want me to open and send you some?

I just turned down a Willett purple top wheated and previously turned down a purple top bourbon. I had bought one of each previously. Very good bourbon, but no where near worth the $250 and $300 price tag. Glad I tried it, but I'm good now.

I tried a Rare Character next to a purple top…. Purple top is super delicious but RC was so close. I’d rather get a bunch of RC

For me to buy anything over $140 it has to be MSRP There is far to many bourbons in the $50-100 range that are obtainable that are good

I guess it all comes down to how much you are willing to spend. I think if you are going to make an expensive purchase you really need to see if you can obtain a pour first

I can tell you exactly how much I paid for my Purple Top.. $599. I paid that because I was too embarrassed to say no at the register after a raffle 😔

in my state of CO these purple tops are sitting on the shelf for weeks after raffles/similar events because that price is so ridiculous.

599 for any bottle of whiskey seems unreasonable to me. I just don't think I've drank a bottle I would pay 599 for honestly. The one time I won 599 at bingo when I was 18, I was so happy I won that much money at once. I don't think I could ever see myself spending 599 on one bottle. I could buy so many more bottles!

That Willett stuff isn't good to me. I've had the green tops and it was barely worth MSRP. If I can get Purple top at msrp or close to it I'll give it a go to get it off my bucket list. Disco 10 is readily available by me. Disco 11 and 12 I doubt I'll ever see in my area for MSRP. I'd pay up to $200 for it.

MN has had some Purple Top drops over the last couple of years. I've passed on them multiple times. There is no chance that anybody can convince me that a 9 year old single barrel is worth $325. Purple Tops are the biggest sham out there. I've never tried one and don't need to. It can't be good enough to warrant $325 for a 9 year single barrel.

My all time most disappointing bottle is Willett purple top. Paid $270, gave several samples away, nobody liked it. Finally found a fan & gifted half the bottle. Big mistake for me!

@jimpaul3491 yeah that's not a purple top, that one was never good to begin with. Purple top is Estate bourbon looks like the Rye bottle with a purple top.
