Actually the point of monetization is not just "monetization" for the sake of it. KZbin makes sure to boost up the channels that aren't monetized, but once channel gets monetized then youtube starts destroying it, either under 500 or around 2k views KZbin flatlines views, never to rise ever again, even with above 95% like/dislike ratio and 80%+ audience retention it WILL STILL GO DOWN, also RPM goes below 0.4$ if it was 0.9-1.2$. All that from my own personal experience and also by judging my friend's channels as well, same results. Only luck works on youtube, just pray for youtube to blow your channel up if they want to.

I agree 100%. Latest KZbin strategy is to give beginner channels one complementary blow up video which, if you do not make the requirements within a year, destroys your channel. When you lose so many watch hours in such a short period of time, for me it was 2500 watch hours, the algorhythm sees your channel as a tanking channel and stop recommending your videos to a wider audience. It makes that daily fight to out do your performance on each day, a year ago, double so hard. To start KZbin now is a crazy game unless, like the commentator said, KZbin decides for no apparent reason to blow your channel up.

@@divatalk9011 it makes sense. KZbin is a game and the algorhythm is set (I believe,). In that time that people struggle to get monetize KZbin takes 100% of the add revenue. Why if you have made 4000 watch hours must it be taken back if you did not make 1000 subscribers in a year? To fight with your own performance a year ago on a daily basis is impossible. I need my token exploding video now not when the algorhythm dished it out to me. At this rate it is going to take me another 2 years before I am monetized.

I can say that even a very small channel such as mine, can get some decent rpm. I say to all small channels keep moving forward, Growth is Growth even if it's slow. You will have times when it will pick right up, then slow down again. Keep doing what you do and you will see results.

The last part on Manny Ortiz's youtube ads income making up only 10% of his total income is similar to my experience. 90% of my channel's income comes from affiliate sales and sponsorships. Don't focus on things that's outside of your control, and focus on what you can control. You need to diversify. If you hold enough influence in your niche you can make people buy stuff that you promote.

9:35 Had he started with this, a lot of us probably wouldn't bother watching the rest of the video to be honest. And that is because this is the actual cold hard truth that a lot of us who've been in the space for some months at least, already know. Actually that is the most solid fact in the whole video. If your audience is not big enough on KZbin or any social media site as yet, you will be wasting your time and energy trying to monetize/ sell stuff. So however you slice it, your focus should still be to get monetized on KZbin because by then you have a definite audience.

As you showed in the video, the RPM depending on the video can differ quite a lot. So depending in your niche, maybe it's good spreading your wings and trying out different concepts within said niche if you want to get a higher RPM? So far that's not a big issue for me, got about 940 subscribers + a couple thousand watch hours before that's anything I have to worry about.
