Keep in mind that KZbin is always changing and evolving, but its algorithm is mostly based on human psychology. You can adapt your content to your audience, but don't change your content into something that doesn't feel right with who you are. Sub count isn't everything, having your subscribers actually watch engage/be engaged with your content is much more important. You didn't really need those 5 you lost overnight, because chances are, they weren't going to watch your videos anyway... their presence would just drag your metrics down. I comment on videos from an Alt account, because I don't want to gain subs from comments I make on videos, because chances are, those subs wouldn't do my channel any good. This account has no content, but people still sub to it. My actual channel account has about the same amount of subs as yours, but I haven't even checked it in a few weeks after a video I uploaded last month, that took alot of effort to make... basically flopped. Not every video, is going to do better than the one previous... but, I just needed to take a step back and reaccess the situation. Hard to get going again, once you break your stride.

Awesome video. I am small KZbinr, and I think that for small channels the most important thing is to get good presence from the beginning. If you are not popular, people won't care even if you have the best videos and the best content on platform. I am not beginner anymore, but I know how hard it can be (and honestly if I didn't use a lot of Fame- ster, I would have quit a long time ago. It made everything much easier for me, especially getting to 1000 subs and view hours).

I feel like the algorithm is basically saying creativity (genre wise) is frowned upon. You can only try new content if you make a whole separate channel for it. You can only be creative as far as that specific genre only.

I love these VidIQ videos. Gets me fired up. 3 weeks ago, did a complete makeover on all video titles to have a uniform pattern of descriptive keywords among all the videos. The algorithm seemed to like that as the channel was just sitting there doing not much for 4 months and now all the videos are active with impressions from a few to quite a lot. I'll keep saying this on as many Vidiq videos as I can, this is a GREAT video for every niche except gaming. I think we have actually done quite well in diversifying ourselves in this horribly over saturated market by having 4 friends play games like the old couch style days, but man...Making gaming work on youtube in 2024 is the toughest thing that I could ever imagine doing. I really hope this works out. Lots of tears, lost sleep, and energy put into this baby.

Tbh, it feels like VidIQ is against gaming channels. Most the advice I've ever seen when they mention it is for generic things like making walkthroughs or making tip videos (for live service games only). They even talk about gaming like 100% of us only play live service games. That is not true. VidIQ isn't the only channel that does this to gaming channel when it comes to not giving proper advice. I wish there was someone out there trying to give advice for gaming channels that didn't share the "only give generic advice and assume more non walkthrough channels play live service," bias.

Ngl finding a niche is probably the hardest thing for my gaming channel since I like all kinds of games and don't really play them in a unique way or anything like that. What I came up with was streaming games and then turning my entire playthrough into one single long video (depending on the length of the game). So basically just making sure that each video feels like a journey with a start and an end but I feel like that's not really even a niche to begin with...

I'm so torn on the whole niche thing. I see huge channels like good mythical morning that literally do a wide variety of different topics, subjects, and formats and they still do incredibly well after all these years. I also follow other channels that have massive numbers of subscribers and they talk about a wide variety of subjects. On the flip side, I know that if you do have a niche, the algorithm seems to find viewers for you quicker than if you don't.. so it's kind of like a catch-22.. also, there's the problem of the algorithm thinking that something in one of your videos is a particular niche when it was just a wild card subject that you threw out. For instance, I do comedy videos and there are these funny jump-scare things that I do that I don't want to be the main focus but they always seem to do well! That's not what I mainly want to do but those videos are the ones that help my channel along... So I continue to make them so what I want to do gets out there. It's like we need a damn user's manual! 😅

You don't need to stick to one single game, you can go for whole genre of games. That way even if you switched your games to something else it's more then likely that your audience will like it then not. But if you just start creating content on random games then you will most definitely lose your audience. 😊 It's all about your own journey and trial and error but no need to repeat some of the most common mistakes either. 😅

As a chronic KZbin user, the newer Ai algorithms seem to pigeon hole content and shows me the same thing over and over. Even if I’ve already watched it!! I used to look at suggestions as a way to find new content but now it’s basically the same stuff over and over….Every once in awhile there will be a new video from a creator I haven’t seen before and creators with a small following. I like to click on those! AND when you search for video’s it might give you a couple options for what you searched for and then right back to the same content you’re not even looking for…and then a couple more videos on what you’re actually looking for! It’s so annoying!!! So on the user side, KZbin has become a lot more irritating because it just does what it wants and half ignores what the user wants….SOOOOO as far as trying to build a KZbin channel well I dunno…I even tried erasing all my search history. KZbin ignored me. 😅

I'm so stubborn. I want to upload whatever I want to my creator channel (not this one), as I get bored just doing one thing. I also kind of want to "train" my audience to have an open mind and not just watch the same type of content over and over again. But I'm no match for the All-Powerful algorithm.
