I love how informative your channel is. Love learning about others with different disabilities. My mom passed from COVID, she had Lupus, RA, Chrons , Depression , Fibromyalgia, Diabetes, multiple surgeries for hernias and back issues, and so many other health issues but she was the ROCK for EVERYONE she knew. Ive noticed the most battered of us and those of us that are SERIOUSLY tested by god are the strongest people. I wish you a healthy 2025 ❤

Hi from Italy - may I ask, do you FEEL the pressurised air going in? I never imagined that the flow would be so strong! Why is that🤔~🐞🌹🌻💚🌺
@LifewithaVent3 күн бұрын
Hello. Yes, I can feel the pressurized air going into my lungs. It can take some adjusting to because it feels different than breathing normally. The air must be pressurized to force the diaphragm downward and to force air into the lungs. The lungs are very elastic. Their normal state is to be contracted and to be small. It takes high pressure to force them to expand. A visualization: our lungs are like two balloons. It takes a lot of effort to blow up the balloons. (This would be similar to inhaling.) If you let the air out of the balloons, this is similar to exhaling.

Thank you for sharing. Do you need the vent because you have weak respiratory muscles? I thought I read that you had mitochondrial disease so I’m assuming that is the reason for the vent. I use a bipap in avaps mode due to a muscle disease for assistance breathing when lying down.

@LifewithaVentКүн бұрын
Thank you for your question. If your sister did not start coughing, she is probably fine. As a precaution, please watch her for the next few days for any signs of infection just in case when she swallowed the water, it went down into her lungs. If she develops a fever, cough, fatigue or any signs of an infection, please immediately take her to the doctor or the hospital.

The wires to prevent moisture from condensation was interesting. Are there models which incorporate both ventilator and humidifier into one?
@LifewithaVent3 күн бұрын
Yes, there are ventilators which have humidifiers all in one unit. The biggest issue is the water chamber is not very large on those devices. It requires water to be added every 2 hours. That is not a big deal during the day, but during the night, it can big a huge hassle.

Does the heated humidifier machine replace the hme filter ? I’m an RT student but I haven’t seen a vent connected to a humidifier like that . Very helpful thank you!!!
@LifewithaVentКүн бұрын
Thank you for your question. Yes, the heated humidifier replaces the HME. If a person is not able connect to a heated humidifier, an HME is usually used.

Thank you for showing me how your vent works it's so cool. What happens if your heated humidifier fails? Are there steps to get it working again? I'm just curious cuz I learned so much from you and your channel❤
@LifewithaVent3 күн бұрын
Great question. There are a few things I can do. 1. I can move the wires around to see if it is a faulty wire which is causing it to fail. If it is a faulty wire, I call the medical equipment company and they can overnight me a new wire. 2. I can do a video call with the medical equipment company service department. They have been able to get the machine to work by telling me how to reset it. 3. I call my respiratory therapist with my medical equipment company and hope and pray she has an extra heated humidifier. 4. I call the medical equipment company, and they overnight me a new heated humidifier. This is a great idea for a video. Thank you. I will add this to my future video list.

@LifewithaVent I saw in your earlier video, the one where you shared a day in your life with mitochondrial disease that you could be off the ventilator for short periods of time while you were showing things and explaining things but I saw that you got very tired without it and also very breathless. I am so glad you have one at home so that you can be at home too, you deal with so much and you never complain and that's so beautiful, you always brighten my days so thank you for that.

Do you have to suction your trach. My daughter had one for the first 2 years of her life...
@LifewithaVent3 күн бұрын
I have a suction machine and can suction if I want to. I do not like suctioning. So, I use other methods such as using a nebulizer to keep my secretions thin. Once the secretions are thin, I can cough them up.

Im sorry i have to ask this question. I have watched a few of your videos but i still didnt quite grasp what illness or condition you exactly have. Your symptoms go beyond POTS, you had periods of ME/CFS if i recall correctly. Have you ever done antibody testing for things like EBV, RSV, lyme? Im asking because i too mysteriously fell very very ill in the last 6 months (after 29 years of rock solid health) and while im in remission for 4 weeks now, i have a chronic inflammation and damage to my lung vessels that no doctor can explain.

@LifewithaVent Thanks for the reply. I remember years ago visiting my uncle, who was in tbe hospital, they had him in a geriatric unit of the hospital. The nurses actually didn't want us to wear masks because it made the place feel like a hospital, and they wanted it to feel more like home.
