This makes a lot of sense. Ownership, entitlement, etc.. no contact is absolutely the way forward.

narcissists actually expect you to tolerate treatment that they would be offended by. a lot can be learned when you see how people, especially narcissists, treat people who have nothing to offer them, or those who they feel are beneath them (such as waiters in a restaurant, or grocery staff.) it's pretty degrading to be polite. cheers from southern ontario, canada 🍁

It is creepy, weird, offensive, disgusting, disrespectful and insulting. This is what hoover is in a nutshell! Block, delete, ignore, walk away. Thank you Danielle.

This is true. My ex narc cheated on me with a an older woman that he found more attractive and with more money. Therefore he embedded the person he cheated with as his new primary source before I left him and so I only had a couple of hoovers. He was still upset to lose me at the beginning but I think that was because he would've tried to keep us both, going back and forth. He is a loser, a serial cheat a gambler, is in debt and has nothing to offer. I'm surprised that other person even wants him still as his mask has now slipped. I think it's because she's codependant. The truth is nobody decent would want these people once their true selves are revealed

Very good advice. My problem WAS, the narcissist wasn't just my wife (at the time), but also the mother of my children. After treating me like dirt for years, she decided we were done and ordered me out. Got the mandatory separation and after a few months, when she realized I was recovering and doing well, she launched a major campaign to draw me back. After a couple YEARS, I decided she was sincere. NOPE. As soon as we were again a couple, all the same old crap. Even after the divorce, when she had already found another guy, she tried to pull me back in. I've been no-contact for eight years. My children are old enough to understand.

Danielle, is probably one of the few people who can actually "own" a narcisist in the first instance. I truly admire her, and wouldn't wish to disrespect her... Strong lady x

They just don't have the hardware for it. In the 1960s, the Big-3 all released their "AF/X" cars...the Factory Hot Rods. These cars came with Racing Engines, Transmissions, and Differentials, but looked just like their regular passenger cars on the outside. Inside they were stripped of Air Conditioning, Heaters, Radios, etc. They didn't even come with a back seat or windshield wipers. Any "Creature-Feature" that weighed them down and didn't help them get down the 1/4 mile faster was simply left off the car. And they dominated Auto Racing because of it. A regular car just couldn't compete with them. Narcissists are built just like those AF/X cars. Love, Empathy, Compassion, and Consideration were all left off these hobgoblins. So that they're not slowed down by them...and can dominate Empathic Human Beings in the Race of Life. Check out the 1964 "FORD Thunderbolt." The 1969 Chevrolet "ZL-1 Camaro" and the...."1968 Dodge 426 HEMI Dart."

Thank you! My narc ex is trying to get back into my life after 16 years and he's married with two kids. He said exactly that, he's changed yada yada yada. Thanks for the wise words.

That's crazy. Maybe you should find his wife's social media and send her a message. Maybe even create an anonymous account so she can't rage at you personally in her denial. Pretty sure you are not the only one who he was trying to "reconnect" with. He would not know which woman told on him.

@@cb9825 So true, I'm sure I'm not the only one. They just never seem to be satisfied. I would totally tell her except she will make his life miserable and take the two kids from him, if it weren't for the children I would definitely let her know.
@cb9825

@@TK.000 did I understand it right, do you pity him because his wife can potentially leave him for his attempts at cheating on her? Maybe actual cheating too. Seems like he deserves some kind of negative reaction from her. at least she can make informed decisions and get checked for STDs. As for the kids' wellbeing, he probably abuses them already. I can say that I would be a different person if I lived with my non-narc parent after the divorce. Unfortunately I ended up living with the narc parent. The divorce itself didn't affect me much, it was minuscule compared to all the shit I had to tolerate from the narc.

@@cb9825 I'm sorry you went through that. It is terrible abuse living with one. Sad enough to say, his wife is worse than he is. I don't pity him, he's getting what he deserves by being married to her. I feel sorry for the children if their mother were to get sole custody.

Last message from my "best" friend with BPD was: "Yeah, I don't need you. I found a new best friend who actually understands me because he has the same disorders as me, who would never hurt me (I wrote a mean message after a month of silent treatment) as opossed to you. And as I already said: when you fucked up, you fucked up, finally see it and find yourself new friends too 🤷‍♀️" Kinda normal message, right? The problem is: she said to me she lost her best friend at the age of 16, she's 31 now and told me she has never managed to find anybody to replace him. Finally she's found me, but then told me I am "like the others". And she found a new best friend? So quickly? How many sources of supply had she already? How many people have heard that they can take the place of her best friend? Was I just a source of supply?

Interesting questions. Dr Andrew van der Vaart on KZbin explains that people with BPD need others to emotionally stabilize them whereas those with NPD need others to validate them. It's seems impossible to know how much you really meant to your former friend. I suspect you meant a lot to them, maybe because they needed you to regulate their emotions and identity. Those with BPD almost always have comorbidities, and there's several videos on KZbin that discuss the "favourite person" / best friend phenomenon as it regards BPD.

What? Nooooooo! There is much better supply-much richer (seriously!), much more important, much easier to deceive... a girl who can possibly respect the narc. Please tell me that they will move on when they know you have zero respect for them. They need respect desperately.
