Probably the best video you have ever done, honestly, I don't think you know how much h you help people. My daughter is struggling at the moment, turns out a lot more than I knew about and it breaks my heart. Watching this has given me the idea to take her on a wild camp with me and my dog. It's far far from what she's used to but I reckon she'll get some good stuff from it so thanks for giving me the idea mate. When you find out that a loved one is having these terrible thoughts of ending it all, you feel panic and dread and fear all at once, I mean how can i a 57 year old fart help a gorgeous 30 year old woman, but I think I can by taking her to the hills and living with nature for a couple days. Anyway pal, you truly are an inspiration to so many people, long may it continue my friend

Mate, I was literally talking about SADs today with one of my sons. I used to struggle with it every year and get so depressed about it. After I left the army it was a struggle and looking back now I was a mess, especially after the breakup of my relationship with my sons mother. Being outdoors and giving myself a test and pushing myself in all weathers and circumstances helped me. Adversity made me healthier mentally and put me in a better place. That was 17 years ago and although I have small troughs of depression, I feel a lot happier and content. Depression is not the end of the world.

I’m a mental health nurse and so I’m trained to help people through tough times. Despite my training I still often find it hard, so you should be really proud at the great work you do and the courage you have to be vulnerable and reach out to others. Keep it up Hazey and hope to see you somewhere beautiful in nature one day.

Hi mate, I've suffered various degrees of depression all my adult life - It ebs and flows, it is what it is my brother, we just push through and rock on. I'd recommend the outdoors to anybody who can get out there though, it really is something that cannot be replicated by any other means and it is incredible for clearing out a jumbled head! As for people contacting you for help, you can't save the world mate, none of us can, don't ever feel bad about that. Your vids provide some real brightness to some gloomy times and you can't put a price on that stuff. You do more than enough to help folks. Have an amazing Christmas and a healthy new year! It gets better. I had a breakdown over 22 years ago. I got lots of help and support, took time out of life, and did what I could, when I could. The most important thing I learned through that adventure is to stop believing all the thoughts I think because most of them were not compassionate or empowering toward me. I still slip sometimes, but I know the symptoms, and I have a vast toolbox to help myself get back to compassionate and kindness.

Even just from the snippets we get to see of your life on youtube, it's been clear that you've been having a great time this year, Hazey. Been lovely to see. I spent the first 6 months of this year sat inside writing my thesis to finish my PhD, and it sent my noggin well and truly into the shed. Eventually I forced myself to do an hours walk every morning around my local woods before I started working, and honestly that was the one thing that actually helped me finish the damn thing. I know it's a cliche, but that's because it's true: nature really is the great healer. It strips back to bare truths and shows you what you need to be shown. Hope you're feeling better soon and that you enjoyed the snow dahhn saarf :)

Hello mate. I love your videos, and I found this one very touching. You have a heart of gold. Me and the Mrs are moving to York just after Christmas, so that we can be near the places we love. It's amazing how healing nature can be, and you're not wrong in what you say. My wife is a psychotherapist and she tries to help people in difficult times. But like her you must remember not to make yourself responsible. You can try and do your best to help and that's what you've done, but mental wellbeing is something people ultimately have to find for themselves. It sounds like you recently turned a corner, and I'm happy for you. Be well my friend and keep being the good person you are. X

Completely understand what you mean. Had a constant bad cold for about 2 months and nothing clears it. These last few years have been awful, each New Year’s Day thinking this year will be better, quickly to be proven wrong. I’ve made the mistake of being stuck in the house too much lately, the one thing that pulls me round is being outside. The other night got into a massive argument with the other half, got the dog and went out for a long walk, honestly felt like I couldn’t even breathe inside anymore. Even in that hour (could have stayed out longer but it wouldn’t have been fair on the dog)I came back a changed person. You help so many people just by doing what you’re doing and I suppose all I can say is thankyou.

I'm a community mental health worker and spend every day trying to help others that are not going through the best of times. When I'm not working I try and get out in nature as much as I can as I know this keeps my head sailing straight. Keep up the good work and hopefully keep doing the things you know keep you sailing straight.

Much love Hazy, don't feel pressured that "you can't help everyone". It's an impossible task and through your content you are doing more than most of us could hope to do in shedding some light on and making conversations about mental health. My head was a shed just before lockdown happened, and lockdown maybe helped me mask it a little as it was very easy to literally lock myself away. It took a few years to come back to life and like many people it was the call of the outdoors that woke me back up. I went to a few fells and started to get fitter and eventually went to the North Wales coast for 3 nights in the tent with my lad, I came back completely different and I now get the tent out as much as possible. Everyone has a happy place and the coast is mine, I am hoping to do the camino de santiago next year as a pat on the back to myself for coming back from the edge. Again, much love mate. Some times it's hard for anyone to take credit, but you deserve lots for your consistent approach to promoting mental health.

Great stuff Haze. More people need to talk! I remember back in 2015. I sat in my room and wrote a list. On the left hand side it said kill yourself. You have managed to gain a huge following of broken people (me included), who you give so much happiness and motivation too.
