Actually, I think that as more commercial users need more electric energy then the existing grid will be crucial to the cheapest electricity. Millions and millions and millions of rooftop PV can fill the grid with feedin electricity if the offgrid movement is not needed. Grids are extremely expensive to build or enlarge capacity. Many transmission lines in parallel are because the first transmission line had limited capacity, and it was cheapest to build a new transmission line. But no line is ever overbuilt because grids are expensive. Electricity is the most expensive energy because of the grid.
